Historia
Steve Jobs called Jony Ive his “spiritual partner at Apple.” The London-born genius was the second-most powerful person at Apple and the creative force who most embodies Jobs’s spirit, the man who designed the products adopted by hundreds of millions the world over: the iPod, iPad, MacBook Air, the iMac G3, and the iPhone.

An Ode To Jony Ive
Revisado: 09-02-22
Nobody doubts the talent and accomplishments of Jony Ive. But as a human being, he is not infallible and also tires out. Apple became a trillion-dollar company based on good business decisions. Design alone would not have gotten it to that point. The point of this (well-researched) book is to shed a tear for design as an end in itself. But we should leave that to The Fountainhead. This is real life.

Historia
In Camera Man, film critic Dana Stevens pulls the lens out from Keaton’s life and work to look at concurrent developments in entertainment, journalism, law, technology, the political and social status of women, and the popular understanding of addiction. With erudition and sparkling humor, Stevens hopscotches among disciplines to bring us up to the present day, when Keaton’s breathtaking (and sometimes life-threatening) stunts remain more popular than ever as they circulate on the internet in the form of viral gifs

The Dawn of Cinema Through The Life of Buster Keaton
Revisado: 03-14-22
Dana Stevens tackles many interesting subjects in this Buster Keaton biography. I like how it tackles subjects such as child actors, the movie industry, alcoholism, McCarthyism, etc through the life of BK in such a seamless way.

Historia
Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

Berkeley > Caffeine
Revisado: 09-12-21
I’m a Michael Pollan fan. His thoughtfulness on common drugs is very interesting. His take on Caffeine is great, too. But now I’m beginning to wonder if his real drug is Berkeley, California, a town with the best of Europe and USA in a relatively small area.
