Disappointed
Revisado: 01-18-25
I was looking forward to a more interesting engagement between the killer and the veteran survivors. Apparently survivors are easier to kill than someone who's never experienced an attack before. There could have been all kinds of cool face offs but nope.... just teen drama before standard slasher set pieces. I would give this author another shot if he does a sequel because the set up isn't half bad, but I think there was a lot of interesting characters whose potential was wasted by focusing on the most boring character of Annie. Kinda reminds me of Twilight, tons of interesting characters and events but we focus on two blocks of wood.

Almost an anti wilderness adventure.

If your looking for Hatchet with a female protagonist or an updated Island of the Blue Dolphins look elsewhere. Protagonist if you can call her that allow her to be kill, her dog to be killed. Then bads guys kinda die by tripping over they're own feet. Then she flies away.

Written from a Christian constitutional worldview, American Meltdown, Book Two of The Economic Collapse Chronicles uses dystopian fiction to take an in-depth look at the economic and political trends that have taken America to the edge of bankruptcy. The book assesses the current course of the nation and projects it into the near future. In Book Two, America has entered into a full scale financial meltdown. good economic crash story minus religious tangent
Revisado: 05-31-20
I really enjoyed the story , feel the antagonist are a little two dimensional and the religious stuff almost makes you cringe so hard you gag, but there are some good insights to be had.

Historia
Imagine a blackout lasting not days, but weeks or months. Tens of millions of people over several states are affected. For those without access to a generator, there is no running water, no sewage, no refrigeration or light. Food and medical supplies are dwindling. Devices we rely on have gone dark. Banks no longer function, looting is widespread, and law and order are being tested as never before.

One the best research and theory craft on the subject. The discussion with federal and private agencies was very helpful.

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

I really enjoyed the story, but I had some issues.
Revisado: 03-27-20
Outstanding story , I found the lack of looter/raider fights somewhat refreshing. However I wasn't crazy about their complete disregard for security. The author is either somewhat antigun or doesn't know enough to give accurate descriptions.
Another issue is too many characters to juggle, honestly I rather it had been a story about just Greg and Rebecca. I also get some anti American socialism vibes , but for now I will ignore it and look forward to a sequel.

Historia
Emma Bloodworth once had a normal life - a loving husband and two children, a cat, a good job in the city - and she was happy. Then, for her, everything changed...as the world ended. The earthquakes, the global floods, and the devastating fires arrived first. The human race, displaced and panicked, fled, migrating to any place there was food and shelter. Then the worldwide plague arrived with its waves of death.

Thrilling from the first paragraph to the last.
Revisado: 03-04-20
Awesome book, with high octane action but with excellent pacing. Emma is a interesting and sympathetic character with real faults and believable desires. Matthew is rugged and reliable hero without action hero cheesiness.

Historia
After the worst pandemic in mankind's history, anarchy threatens to break apart the United States. The government is years away from providing even the most basic necessities. Militias, gangs of convicts, and rogue soldiers face off in a violent free-for-all as they vie for power. Few safe havens remain. Big cities have been overrun with deformed survivors of the Superpox-99 pandemic. Smaller towns are being overtaken by authoritarians and lawless thugs. And congested interstates have become thoroughfares for desperate travelers and bandits seeking to capture women and supplies.
