You know a book is good, when your buddy finishes reading the whole book, in ONE day.

Baby Llama Drama by: Kate Watson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Don't let the cover fool you, this book covers deep topics along with the romance. Fans of Cindy Steel, Katherine Center and Jenessa Fayeth will love this story.

📖Duke is trying to support his three year old daughter while also juggling an NFL career. When he asks Millie for help with his daughter Lottie, he ends up with something much greater than he anticipates.

🥰The "Janes" friend group is on full display here. We see each of the friends supporting one another heavily in this story. (They all have the middle name Jane)There are lots of cute barn scenes with the llamas and goats too.

🏈Duke is a famous Carolina Waves quarterback. I enjoyed all the football scenes and his interactions with his teammate Sonny.

👩Lottie is a little girl with abandonment issues and her tantrums are described on page. It's an honest look at childhood trauma.

👗Millie is kind and compassionate. She's a loyal friend and was easy to root for. If you are a caretaker or caregiver in any way, you will relate deeply to Millie. I really appreciated the author not shying away from the emotional needs of caregivers.

❤️There is a sweet romance that develops over time.

🎧Both narrators were excellent

I read books 1 & 3 first, I can safely say these can be read in any order.

Thank you Amber for buddy reading with me. It was fun to chat all my thoughts with you.

My only complaint is I need book 4 immediately and it's not out yet

Doctorshipped by Savannah Scott
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖Jayme and Grant have both committed to enjoying a single life. The more time they spend together, the harder that commitment becomes.
"This kiss is our universe and we are the sole inhabitants."
Read it for:
🩺Grump/Sunshine
🩺Joyful/Sassy FMC
🩺 Dyslexia Rep
🩺Swoony dialogue
🩺Single dad
🩺Small town antics
🩺Dual POV & narration
🩺Grand gesture
What I enjoyed:
Jayme is a strong, intelligent woman who knows her worth. She believes in her dreams and is the most supportive & loyal friend. Grant was harder to like due to his general disdain for people in the beginning. As these two fall in love, he becomes much more swoonworthy. The critter game is strong in this one- bringing all sorts of comedy. Scott's writing will tug at your emotions. One moment I was laughing, the next I was gutted and then I had a perma-grin on my face.
The not so good:
Third act breakup and the reason behind it.
⭐Story Highlights
💪Jayme standing up for herself
😍Duke & Shannon's wedding
😋Cinnamon muffins
Dr. Peppers 🤣
Frogs 🍒
🤣Squirrel stew
Sprinklers 🔥
❤️Ella Mae
😍Hand written notes
🧟‍♀️Thriller ❤️

What's the last book that left you grinning ear to ear?

Love and the Little White Lie by: Tammy L. Gray

"He takes in my flour-soiled clothes, then my hair that's likely in just as bad a shape, and a smile I'm completely not used to seeing covers his face. "You're a wreck,"he says. "And you're the most tactless knight in shining armor I've ever met."

Things I loved

⛪ Strong character driven plot

⛪ January is neurodivergent and has such a HUGE heart

⛪Weekly visits to the nursing home

⛪Banter with Dillon

⛪Her Aunt's unconditional love

⛪ The supporting characters were all in different places in their faith journey and all had things to learn

⛪Love is HONEST. Dillon won't let January self isolate or deflect. He calls her out.

Why you should read it

❤️It's a story at its core about unconditional love- love of family, the love of God

❤️ Character you can't help rooting for

❤️ Beautiful setting

❤️ It's available free on Audible Plus or Kindle Unlimited

❤️Rita Award Winner

Townshipped

By: Savannah Scott

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The cadence of Townshipped feels like a soft, melodic exhale.

The story begins with a woman crashing into a farmer's front yard and developing amnesia.

Aiden and Em are two people you want to be friends with and you can't help rooting for them. They seem made for each other.

Their chemistry is stronger than their will power and neither character apologizes for this.

Both Aiden and Em are OPEN to finding their person and this was such a good departure from the usual enemy/lover trope.

Scott interjects humor in all the best places. I laughed out loud so many times. Both Aiden and Em were so well written I was THRILLED to be a long for the ride.

This story feels like a hug for your heart, a side splitting belly laugh and that first bite of a warm cookie.

It's the first novel I've ever finished and began to reread on the same day because I just wasn't ready to say goodbye.

My highest recommendation

🐐small town

🐐community

🐐found family

🐐swoony kisses only

🐐female friendships

🐐llamas, muskrat, pigeons

🐐The funniest funeral scenes ever!

🐐cute kids (human and goat)

Book 2 in the RomCom series can easily be read as a stand alone.

If you enjoy:
Grump to Sunshine
Forced Proximity
Closed Door

Tessa is sent to Turks and Caicos to slow a new hotel building from opening on time. She shares a house with contractor Luke. There is a host of great supporting characters that are island natives. I especially loved Nano.

The narrators are equally fantastic. Luke comes across as a wonderful stand up guy who is very very annoyed with Tessa. He is determined not to like her and stays his course until chapter 25.

Tessa is the Energizer bunny who quickly rebounds from her many set backs. She is warm and bubbly and the entire island except Luke loves her.

There were several laugh out loud moments. It's a light, fun story.

IRL I am married to a grump contractor so that made it less fun to listen to Luke's complaining. I also deeply understand how much Tessa's sabotage would have affected the entire crew and their livelihoods. I had to remember it was all fiction.

As a Florida native myself, I love that these characters are from Tampa. I would have loved more description of Turks and Caicos.

It's a sweet love story and super fun on audio. In the end the grump and sunshine compliment each other for their HEA.

The good- small town set during Christmas with characters you want to root for.

Narration- her female characters are great. Her male characters sound female and rigid.

The not so good- Whatever the issue or hesitation is for each character- the issue is repeated word for word in multiple chapters as if the reader can't remember the beginning. I found this insulting to the reader and at least suggest a thesaurus as to not say "her parents divorce made her unable to believe love doesn't cause pain" for the 7th time.

More good- I did enjoy the story. The majority of it reads like a Hallmark script.

What's missing- I love a story that keeps me guessing. There is not a mystery element. We are not wondering any backstory for any character. I felt things could have been more descriptive.

I tried 3 other authors before landing on this book. I'm picky. I love authors like Denise Hunter, Rachael Bloome and Macomber. It was an enjoyable story. I probably would read another book by this author. I think some of the things that bothered me were due to it being read aloud than had I just read the book myself.

The narration is like listening to a radio play with a modern soundtrack. All the narration was well done. My problem lies with Maggie Patel. She is a heroine without any redeeming qualities other than her good looks, loyal friendships and blunt candor. She's snarky, rude, whiny and ENTITLED. I love a good rom com but this one fell flat which is a shame because it has great potential.

E.L.Beckett could narrate the phone book and I would listen. She has given us all the gift of narrating all 6 books in the Poppy Creek series. Every character's voice is distinct and her tone is quite calming.

This book picks up with Vic and Lucy. Vic is a former marine and Lucy is the youngest daughter of a wealthy family- and also his boss' sister. They are drawn together to create videos to promote her brother's new bed and breakfast. As they participate and film town events they are pulled closer to each other. They are both withholding information from the people the love.

The story lands us in the middle of wonderful festivals in a warm and loving community.

Redemption is brought for both characters in a sweet way.

Bloome describes all of her characters with a lens of beauty. Every person friend or foe, is described with kind attributes. Fan favorite, Frank and Beverly play key roles in this book as well.

If you are looking to escape to a kinder world, head to Poppy Creek.

The romance while there, is subtle and clean.

Highly recommend this sweet rom-com.

I've read this aloud to over 100 students over the years. It never gets old for me or them. Bud is a young orphan looking for a father he never knew during the Great Depression. He has a book of rules and things to make a better liar out of yourself. Bud has a wild imagination and topics that are truly heavy- death, orphan, poverty are told with wit and humor. The book is full of unexpected things. You could connect almost e every ELA standard to this novel. There's no surprise why this book is a Newberry and Correta Scott King winner.
