Good book fictionalizing mythology
Revisado: 08-08-23
Loved all the 3 books. I was a little confused that towards the end the author referred to Mahabharat happening after the events of the story but earlier in one of the conversations between Shiva and the vaishnava pandits, the pandit referenced Gita. I will revisit that section again but other than that it was good.

Historia
Ponniyin Selvan is widely considered by many to be the greatest novel ever written in Tamil literature. It was first published as a series in the Kalki, a Tamil language magazine, during the 1950s and was later integrated into a novel. The craze for the series, which was published weekly, was such that it elevated the magazine circulation to reach a staggering figure of 71,366 copies - no mean achievement in a newly independent India.

My first and Best Tamil book
Revisado: 10-20-22
I started listening to this series after I saw the movie PS-1. Listening to it at the play speed of 1.4, the voice of each character very much reminded me of the actors in the movie.
The story, the characters and the narration all are incredible. It is hard to stop listening at the end of any chapter, even if the time reads 3 am. The mind says just one more chapter and the loop continues.
Amazing.... can't imagine how people felt when it was released in parts over the years.

So brilliant, that it saddened
Revisado: 07-10-13
Would you listen to EMPEROR: The Gods of War, Book 4 (Unabridged) again? Why?
No
Who was your favorite character and why?
Marcus, Julius,octavian
What does Paul Blake bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His accent was much different from the previous narrator and his prounciation gave me a new different perspective to the names like Cabrera Gaditicus
If you could take any character from EMPEROR: The Gods of War, Book 4 (Unabridged) out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Marcus, I was sad to realize that he will betray Julius and try talk him out of it...Julius could have achieved much more if he was on the side...or may take Julius to talk him to treat and appease Marcus as much he swayed the people.
Any additional comments?
Looking forward to get my credits renewed tomorrow to get the next book...

Bozo or Awesome
Any additional comments?
This audio book had the trifecta - The subject, The Author and The Narrator - All were great and awesome.
The book took me thru the journey of liking, disliking, liking and disliking and liking ... .Jobs through out the chapters. Jobs life as described seem to be a lesson of what not to do and what to do. It was entertaining like a movie, educating and informative with facts and trivia. Many a times I would just start laughing. I actually miss not listening to it.
