Historia
Behold the orphan. Born into a world that is not a world. A digital being grown from a mind seed, a genderless cybernetic citizen in a vast network of probes, satellites, and servers knitting the Solar System into one scape, from the outer planets to the fiery surface of the Sun. Since the Introdus in the 21st century, humanity has reconfigured itself drastically. Most chose immortality, joining the polises to become conscious software.

Very Deep Sci-fi and Physics
Revisado: 05-06-24
A higher level physics version of Three-body Problem or The Martian and a great story behind it. People almost scared me off complaining about the narration but I didn’t find it a problem at all.

Historia
This book is about pleasure. It’s also about pain. Most important, it’s about how to find the delicate balance between the two, and why now more than ever finding balance is essential. We’re living in a time of unprecedented access to high-reward, high-dopamine stimuli: drugs, food, news, gambling, shopping, gaming, texting, sexting, Facebooking, Instagramming, YouTubing, tweeting....

Not about dopamine
Revisado: 04-01-23
This didn’t go into the science of dopamine at all and was more of a primer on addiction for people who know nothing about addiction.

Historia
Imagine two worlds at war. In one, citizens with jetpacks and ray guns have colonized Venus. In the other, magic reigns supreme, and history turns on swords and spells. Now imagine they have just discovered a third world. Our world. Our timeline of rideshare apps and strip malls is about to become the newest battlefield in the long war between science fiction and fantasy.

Disconnected story and over-produced audio
Revisado: 08-19-21
There were a few gems in the dialog that were entertaining but I felt the story was disconnected overall. Many scenes had way too much “atmosphere” background noise for me to understand what was going on. And I found the accents over the top and un believable.

Historia
According to Kurt Vonnegut's alter ego, the old science fiction writer Kilgore Trout, a global timequake will occur on February 13, 2001, at 2:27 p.m. It will be the moment when the universe suffers a crisis of conscience: Should it go on expanding indefinitely or collapse and make another great big BANG? For its own cosmic reasons, it decides to back up a decade to 1991, giving the world a 10-year case of deja vu, making everybody and everything do exactly what they'd done during the past decade.

Great story with disappointing narration
Revisado: 12-01-17
The narrator appears to not have understood the text and mispronounced many words. There was an earlier version of the audiobooks read by Lawrence Pressman that was excellent but can only be found on CD now.

Great and complete story
Revisado: 06-23-17
Zahn again shows his mastery of the Star Wars universe slipping this story into the well known setting of the rise of the rebellion. I enjoyed the believable tactical insights and space battles.

Flawed Characters
Revisado: 03-12-14
Any additional comments?
Although Suarez touched on some interesting technological trends, I thought this book is more like Kill Decision than his first two great books. I found the main character deeply unlikable and the humble scientists who would introduce themselves as "the man who perfected..." I found completely unbelievable.
