decent start but after the first half it gets bad

it was good until he gets to the famous academy. mind you i really enjoy most books in an academy setting. but his entire personality changes from battle harden veteran to a cringe lord simp. he is immediately "forced" into a deal with a merchant princess and then starts the apology tour from there. then he gets to first day of sword practice class and guess what the sword instructor is a female. then guess what happened. this little girl sword instructor who is an absolute nobody kicks the ass of "the hero of the demon wars" freaking please shove that crap where the sun doesn't shine. I'm done.

it's to short is my only complaint.
I have 8956 fantasy titles in my library and I've listened to them all.
after all the time I've spent listening I've come to realize what I like and what I don't in mcs.
what I like... strong, smart, competent, and ruthless male main characters. single character focused story, really powerful or over powered main characters.
what i hate... weak and stupid main characters. whiny and or complaining main characters. also I'm totally over the whole "growth" concept in stories these days. like when they start off with a crappy attitudes then it takes 5 books for them to start getting their crap together. female main characters. bossy female side characters.
this book checked all my good boxes and none of the bad. it's a rags to richest story with a strong and smart mc that don't take crap and loves loot.enjoy gents. if my boxes are similar to yours then get this book you will enjoy

if you like a weakling wuss main character that starts out as a librarian, traveling salesman, pot head, or store clerk then this is not for you.
if you like seeing a bad a$$ dude get more bad a$$ as the story progresses then you will like it.
I personally hate books with main characters that are...weak, whiny, simps, bleeding hearts, stupid, or anything to do with the lgb-xup community. I don't give a crap about what anyone else's preferences i just don't like how it's destroying everything they touch mainly books movies. after what those *************** did to Star Wars I've declared a financial war and will never buy anything that even remotely supports that cancerous movement. you will like this book.

I love the books so far but...

I'm not going to lie and say I didn't enjoy this book because I did very much but I feel like it lost that part that made me really appreciate how unique it was from book 1. I thought we were going to witness a master class in ruthless business warfare where our mc got op as fk but mostly crushed foes with his wallet. don't get me wrong I would like him to crush them with fist just as much but also with his mind and money. book 1 set it up so perfectly for him to become a rare herbs dealer or something like that. I have never sseeread a cultivation book like that so I was really excited for book 2. however it seems like it's turning into just another cultivation book, he still dosent k ow the first thing about his power or how to control it and we are 45 hours into it this whole book could have been spent just on him exploring his power and getting wealthy and i would have loved it. don't get me wrong it's still great but it's now 1 of many instead of 1 of a kind. Just an honest review

I like the book and it was interesting but I just can't take all the povs. if you like multiple povs then you will definitely enjoy this book. however if you don't then I suggest not getting this one because it won't change your mind on the subject.

Danny decided to abandon JC and escape to save his own neck. I don't care about realism the author could have created a fortunate encounter to help sell the believability of Danny managing a rescue. I don't want to listen to a book where the MC is a coward that wouldn't even to try to save his friend.

mc is a doormat and simp

I began having suspicions this was going to happen in book 1 but never imagined it would go this route. book 1 wash very refreshing because almost every book pushed out these days has an mc that's been abused, bullied, or some kind of tragic backstory. oh and let's not forget they always have some type of handicap. I found myself enjoying the story of someone just winning at everything they do for a change. I did notice some major inconsistencies like how he has these awesome powers but never uses them or would use them in one scenario but in another would act as if he is powerless. in book 2 the author seemed to think he made him to powerful so he began introducing caveats and stipulations to his powers which was way to obvious and a cheap way to do it.
the mc let's every female in this novel use and abuse him in some way and HE always apologies to them after it's over. his "friends" are not friends at all. his mentor Upgrade is a complete moron and takes every chance to hold him back "you need to learn how to craft the hard way or you wont appreciate or know how to actually craft" that's stupid because since he is a myth crafter which is a brand new ability shouldn't he be learning to craft with that ability? why should he use graft paper and tools when he can do all of that in moments in a fraction of the time. also where the hell did his upgrade ability go? in book 1 he grabbed a common mana crystal and changed it into an epic in a couple seconds. if he wants to make a ton of money why didn't he just do that or ever upgrade anything else the same way? upgrade also keeps making him hold back and stifles his inventiveness by wanting him to make basic things.
next his cowardly nature is put on full display and he has an almost suicidal breakdown after he is forced to face his fears in a dungeon against level 1 monsters with a completely overpowered revolver and armor. he literally never even comes close to getting hurt but suffers some major PTSD. overall I feel like I've been hoodwinked going from book 1 to book 2 the mc just got terrible and I found myself wanting him and all his friends dead so Im done with this author and all his work. complete waste of a good credit.
oh and to the people that keep saying "your missing the point this is a story of a normal scared sheltered insecure kid" no I'm not missing anything. if I wanted real life then I would stop buying FANTASY BOOKS YOU PRETENTIOUS ************
also power fantasies are not common at all like you hardly ever come across them. most are the absurdly weak then at the end of the series get strong types. hardly any have true op characters. forgive me but I don't get enjoyment out of hearing about some loser getting his arse kicked every time he crosses the street. I like hearing stories about the guy that's doing the arse kicking. maybe you should do some soul searching.

BT has a bad habit in every book

no matter how much potential the mc has in all of his books they are complete push overs, simp for at least one girl or sometimes multiple, stupid, lazy, and zero common sense.
also why does there always have to be an annoying female that always mistreats or bullies the male mc? it happens enough that it's starting to feel like a trend. the writing is good but I'm tired of waiting till the end of a book or sometimes series for the mc to be someone I want to root for.

man I am so tired of hearing stories about some weak pathetic incompetent morons who get abused and bullied then slowly grow stronger and always suffer from moral dilemmas about how terrible it is to kill bad guys. it just makes me sick. if you want a story like that then go somewhere else. this mc is strong, confident, competent, ruthless and the best friend anyone could ask for. I want more stories like this. there are plenty of those other kind for the weaklings with self confidence issues to listen to so no worries they will be fine keep up the amazing work
