I enjoyed this book. It is validating and empowering and also offers helpful advice. This would be especially valuable for someone who recently found out they are an HSP.

I have been hoping Erika Krouse would write a memoir like this ever since I read an article of hers years ago about her experience private investigator. This book did not disappoint. I found myself addicted to it, despite the sometimes disturbing topics and ways she is treated that I found deeply unsettling. It’s a powerful story that weaves personal narrative with details of the case she is working on and I loved every minute, even those that hurt or made me angry at the injustice of some people’s treatment of others.

Not my cup of tea

This book is well written, but overall I didn’t care for it. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I will just say there is an event in the book that seems to come out of nowhere then disappear without conclusion or any attachment to the rest of the story that I could find. Felt like an entitled woman whining, which is I guess what it was aiming for. I found it difficult to finish. Christina Applegate does a wonderful performance, though.

Good but distant

Beautiful writing. Very focused on the relationship with the therapist, which was interesting. There was a certain distance to it that I can't put my finger on. She would describe emotional motives in abstract ways. I like the book and it's worth the listen, but it lacked a certain depth that these types of memoirs typically have for me.

Interesting but it felt braggy in several parts, a bit mystical in others. I found myself not able to really believe everything. The writer established an authoritative background, but I didn't trust her account of things.

I love her reading of this! I'm so glad I got the audiobook version! She is HILARIOUS. I actually found myself laughing like an idiot in my car.
