Annoying, Puerile + Bad Narrator

I had high hopes for this book, but ended up disappointed. The narrator has one of those voices that annoy you after hearing it for a while, but I tried to push past that in order to give the story a chance. But then the story let me down. The adult protagonist, LEO and other characters all behaved like teenagers who think they are cute, but are actually annoying, and who have childish reactions to everything. All of these teenage shenanigans took a back seat to the mystery. Getting a refund.

Not the best

Story seemed to drag on and became quite unsatisfying. Lots of leaps of logic left me wondering WTH???

Juvenile

Couldn't relate to the constantly angry protagonist. Half of this book is the whining of the protagonist. Done with the series. Waste of my time. Narrator did a good job with what she has to work with.

Narrator Change results in awful narration

The narrator is capable of narrating in a better, softer voice, but when narrating character's voices, her narration is jarring, strident, and just plain terrible. Sometimes the intonation is so similar to that of another, different gender, character that you can't tell who is speaking. The strident affectations were simply not necessary and completely spoiled the book for me.

The story itself is pretty good, so I will be switching to reading any further additions to the series until this is improved, or they bring Lisette Lecat back.

Annoying accents DNF

As a SFL native and life-long resident who routinely hears the many different accents that are common here, I have to say that I found the narrator's fake accents incredibly grating, cartoonish, and distracting from the story, So much so that I did not finish less than a quarter into the story.. I was too distracted by them to follow the story or even care about the story..

Not everyone can pull off regional accents and this narrator is definitely one of those who can't.
