Historia
For decades, Amy ran. Through the dirt roads of Amarillo, Texas, where she grew up; to the campus of the University of Virginia, as a student athlete; on the streets of New York, where she built her adult life; through marriage, motherhood, and a thriving career. To outsiders, it all looked, in many ways, perfect. But Amy was running from something—a secret she was keeping not only from her family and friends, but unconsciously from herself. “You’re here, but you’re not here,” her daughter said to her one night. “Where are you, Mom?”

Courageous honesty
Revisado: 03-24-25
Amy's story and the honest "telling" struck me as courageous and honest. It's not often that the author can narrate their own story, but Amy did a fabulous job and her ability to narrate her own emotions made the story so much more compelling.
I literally could not turn the story off, and it has captivated me for the last two days.
I am an Amarillo native, and I worked for her family for 11 years. So I knew the family, having been part of the executive team for those 11 years,, but I never knew Amy. I feel like I know her now. What a fabulous woman. She will be an inspiration for many other people.
I wish our peace and happiness as she moves forward and puts this behind her.

Fabulous story
Revisado: 02-23-25
Leila Meacham's books are incomparable to other authors. I was so excited to learn that a book had been released after her passing. What a treat. The narrator was excellent, along with the pace of the story. Her story explores the ups and downs of marriage relationships, disappointments, betrayals, career, accomplishments, and career disappointments.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Complete honesty
Revisado: 08-11-24
This was not a story. It was complete honesty. Granted it was from one perspective and there's always two or three perspectives of a situation. However, I appreciate gaining insight into the relationships and dimensions of the British monarchy and royalty. The competition between members of the family was astonishing and so damaging to each other. The lack of cohesiveness and desire to back each other up was the ultimate failure of this family and King Charles and his mother, the Queen mother, were/are responsible for the failure of trust and living relationship and exemplify poor modeling of how family relationships are intended to work. It sounds like Prince Harry tried to men relationships and for trust his whole life until he couldn't take it anymore, and had to leave to preserve his own sanity and take care of his own family. I am very proud of him for having the courage to leave. Prior to reading this book, I did not have a good perception of Prince Harry, probably because of poor press. The total disregard press to confirm the fax before reporting misinformation and damaging stories, was the second most important reason this family and the monarchy may not survive. I cannot believe that the Prime Minister and the Parliament have not done something to get control of this situation. Obviously being member of royalty and the monarch carries responsibilities to be in the public limelight. But they should have some rights over their own lives. I am proud that the US has accepted Harry and supports him in his endeavors to make lives of others better. And although I would be glad to hear the other side, I'm sure we never will. It took this book for Harry to express to his dad and brother, what he was feeling, even though he told them over and over. I could not set this book aside. The story consumed me because it was written so honestly.

Story kind good. But ....
Revisado: 10-30-19
I did not care for the narrator at all. Her delivery sounded like she was mechanical.
