Historia
When unforeseen circumstances during an innovative—and unsanctioned—commercial asteroid-mining mission leave two crew members stranded, those who make it back must engineer a rescue, all while navigating a shifting web of global political alliances and renewed Cold War tensions. With Earth governments consumed by the ravages of climate change and unable to take the risks necessary to make rapid progress in space, the crew must build their own next-gen spacecraft capable of mounting a rescue in time for the asteroid's next swing by Earth.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Revisado: 06-03-20
In the current temporal and spatial moment, or the 'here and now', I needed an escape from the hate, lies, and hypocrites filling our screens and streams. This book was fun, tickled my funny bone, and extremely positive, even during the darkest moment of the story. It set my imagination ablaze with ideas and possibilities of the future. in addition, loved the performance! Thank you! bother to the writer and voice talent --- More please!!!

Writer: Seems like a template for adoption of any technology, nothing special. Upside, it provided good examples of the applications of AI.
Narrator: Mispronunciation of some key names and AI terms. On the upside he has a great voice and great anunciation!

Historia
Long before Margaret O'Mara became one of our most consequential historians of the American-led digital revolution, she worked in the White House of Bill Clinton and Al Gore in the earliest days of the commercial Internet. There, she saw firsthand how deeply intertwined Silicon Valley was with the federal government - and always had been - and how shallow the common understanding of the secrets of the Valley's success actually was.

That's for the memories!
Revisado: 08-01-19
I grew in it the 60's, left high school in the late 70's, and was an early adopter of many of the hardware, software and services you discusses. Many of the stories I had heard or first hand experienced over the years. Must admit the idea of spinning the stories into stand alone vinyets was a lot of fun. Then using each thread to provide prehistory and context between each thread provided a rich story. Did enjoy the discussion of the government funding to start innovation and technologies which the participants spun the each out to businesses. Unfortunately we no longer have inexpensive schools, the funding by the Atari Democrats and Republican in no long term visionary, and the US population is no longer creating, only consuming. Unless things change soon, US innovation ecosystem will fade to black.

Historia
The Founding Fathers tried to protect us from the threat they knew, the tyranny that overcame ancient democracy. Today, our political order faces new threats, not unlike the totalitarianism of the twentieth century. We are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism, or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience.

Reflection on the march away from democracy
Revisado: 04-07-17
Over the last 4 years, I have noticed decline in civility, respect for our fellow man/ citizens and dread out of years of war and terrorism in this country. So I have focused to the written (and audible) word of with backgrounds dissimilar to my own, in an attempt to get outside of the filter bubble and get a fresh prospective. This book provided a great summary and historical prospective on the march away from democracy. Also exposes the thoughtful indicators to expose the leaders and decisions which will lead to this nations demise.

Historia
In 1913, an unschooled young Indian clerk wrote a letter to G. H. Hardy, begging that preeminent English mathematician's opinion on several ideas he had about numbers. Hardy, realizing the letter was the work of a genius, arranged for Srinivasa Ramanujan to come to England. Thus began one of the most remarkable collaborations ever chronicled.

A great man, no one knows but a great story!
Revisado: 07-02-14
What made the experience of listening to The Man Who Knew Infinity the most enjoyable?
This story is about a mathematician, a profession which very few understand, and fewer understand the impact on their own lives and livelihood.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Man Who Knew Infinity?
Ramanujan formulas for reality and infinity, and to stop the audio and think about it for a day, before replaying the chapter and understanding the depths of this mans mind.
Which character – as performed by Humphrey Bower – was your favorite?
The presentation was better then good, clear and understandable.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The last chapter, to understand how this man has changed the core of society throughout the earth, but not changed is own country.
Any additional comments?
There are moments, when mathematical formulas are read, which need to be repeated several times to understand. Very enjoyable book.

Historia
Bradbury's Mars is a place of hope, dreams, and metaphor - of crystal pillars and fossil seas - where a fine dust settles on the great empty cities of a silently destroyed civilization. It is here the invaders have come to despoil and commercialize, to grow and to learn - first a trickle, then a torrent, rushing from a world with no future toward a promise of tomorrow.

Classic Bradbury
Revisado: 05-28-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Martian Chronicles to be better than the print version?
Yes, very good acting.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I enjoyed Scott Brinks nuanced telling of the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I was listening to it, across several long, solo bike rides.
Any additional comments?
I first read the story when I was a teen, and later saw several of the pieces on outer limits. The spoken version reminded me how much I enjoy the stories of Ray Bradbury!
