What an incredible waste of time! The list of impossible situations just grow and compound and the whole mess never ends. Just drones on and on. Finally, I give. It is out of my life forever.

A Well Done Account of A. Lincoln's Presidency

Mr. Meacham presents a well researched account of events and attitudes throughout the country as Abraham Lincoln approached and then came into power. I think it was very well done, expressing conditions in the north and south thoroughly. Mr. Lincoln's wrestling his way through the politics he was faced with was developed and followed and was very interesting. I think the book is an excellent presentation of, possibly (likely?), our best president.

A Fine Yarn

This is a complicated story that just goes on and on. A pretty impossible hero and a tale that the author just doesn't seem to be able to bring to completion. It is pretty well done, but I don't think I'll listen to any more by Mr. Hayes.

Another fine novel

Kate Quinn is a really fine author. I've read three of her novels now and they all have been wonderful stories. This was the first one that I felt that, as a man, I was invading some into a woman's space. The story was still great and put together really well. The woman who reads for Ms Quinn, Saskia Maarleveld, is one of the best in my judgement. She is a delight to listen to.

A Very Fine Story

The first book I've read by Kate Quinn and it was really well done. A perspective on Bletchley Park I haven't come across before and it was a fascinating story. The performance by Ms. Maarleveld is wonderful.

Longer than it Ought to be

Koontz has a great perspective of the federal government/bureaucracy/deep state which I completely agree with and appreciate in nearly every book of his that I read. His love of America and Americans is always so obvious and sincere; the deep love and respect for his country just lifts my heart in every book. This story, written more than 25 years ago, was a bit of a slog. Certainly those characteristics I admire so much in his writing are present, as is his insight regarding fascism.

A Great Story Well Done

I first read this book forty years ago. Seeing it was read by Simon Vance I had to try it again. Even more enjoyable this time around. Very well done.

Surprisingly Excellent

Excellent and as timely today as twenty years ago

The lessons for America's public regarding use of the Navy are as valid in 2020 as they were at the turn of the century. The big carrier groups are vulnerable and at considerable risk. The world is much more dangerous today than is portrayed in this book from the turn of the century. Still a great story and very interesting.
