Good story but over-the-top narration
Revisado: 04-25-25
Characters were decently fleshed out, with layers added throughout the story. Interesting idea and decently developed - stays within reasonable limits. The narrator was just too melodramatic for me: the tone and tenor was beyond realistic and seemed good for maybe some YAs rather than adults. Would like to try another of the series, given to good reviews…but hesitate due to the narrator. Sigh.

Great completion of the story and wonderful ending.
Revisado: 03-11-25
As always, the authors deliver a wonderfully entertaining story with twists and turns that fall well in line with the overall theme. Ending is a superb conclusion of the multiple book arc, and the epilogue is unexpected but truly wonderful. Can’t wait for the authors’ next book!

Quick story with some novel ideas
Revisado: 05-05-24
Middle of book gets a little “long” but overall the story develops rapidly and believably with a good ending. Characters are more than simple 2D cutouts, although some of the male/female interactions seem somewhat juvenile -but this didn’t detract from the overall storyline. Well done.

Historia
Anomaly examines the prospect of an alien intelligence discovering life on Earth. The technological gulf between humanity and the alien species is measured in terms of millions of years. The only way to communicate is using science, but not everyone is so patient. Humanity's first contact with an alien intelligence is far more radical than anyone has ever dared imagine. With a technological gap of millions of years, mankind is barely able to recognize the arrival of an alien space craft outside the gates of the United Nations in New York.

Good overall storyline
Revisado: 03-24-24
Characters are realistic and the dialogue is good. The developing “love storyline” sounds like it was written by a young adolescent. The narration was good but a little over the top in emphasis (but that may have the the writing style rather than the narration per se. I will read more of Mr. Cawdron’s books.

Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.

Historia
The Communist Chinese leadership decides to move up their timetable to become the world’s sole superpower from 2049 to the present. Part of this is to unify Taiwan by force. They believe the best model for accomplishing their wider goals is to copy the comprehensive moves by Imperial Japan. The CCP/PLA thinks they can replicate the successes of the Japanese, while at the same time eliminating the failures. By means of subterfuge, they strike their East Asian neighbors, Western Pacific sea lanes, and the key American naval bases, relying on advanced missile and drone technology.

Disappointing ending
Revisado: 01-23-23
The book is a little “dry” in many sections although the author tried to inject life into the story. The background and build-up to the immediate action is interesting and well done, but I found much of the “action” sections to be too short and lacking adequate personal details to hold my attention. The real ”killer” of the story (no spoilers!) is what would be considered a “dues ex machina” solution that does not seem reasonable or realistic. The narrator does a solid performance, but I hope his dialogue skills with different voices and accents improves with time. Overall, it’s a decent book/story that is long - but given the scope, reasonable for what is being presented.

OK read but predictable
Revisado: 11-17-20
Might have missed the details somewhere but didn’t seem to provide enough background info to make Noble’s capabilities believable. And sorry to say the slight drawl of the narrator was somewhat irritating to me (but others might find it perfectly OK. Also seems like some the the descriptions were unnecessary and bogged down the flow of the story (e.g., painted red door”)....not a big problem but seemed unnecessary at times.

War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

Great story and great listen
Revisado: 11-12-20
The author has crafted an excellent story that is intelligent, fast moving, well-plotted with an ending that will stay with you for quite some time. The characters, especially the main protagonist is well developed over the course of the book and I found myself understanding his complexity as the story progressed. The writing is very well done and I think it accurately portrays the persona of a veteran soldier as he grapples to solve a complex situation, with well-times humor as well as frustration at the obstacles put in his path. The narrator is also very good at telling the story and lending the veteran’s voice to the listener. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and audiobook for a very enjoyable time.

It started by stealth. At first, no one could see what was happening. By the time the alarm was raised it was too late. Ireland had been seized: a financial assault consolidated by a military one. But as the island is overrun, it’s soon clear that the invaders did not anticipate the fierce resolve of of their Celtic opponents. Nor the determination of the country’s powerful allies to throw out the occupiers....
