Historia
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Absurdly funny
Revisado: 04-16-25
I love Fredrik Backman's writing. This story was so bizarre, it was hilarious. The narrator was excellent.

This sounds like AI is reading it. The music at the beginning and end is way too dramatic.

Historia
In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the Eastwood sisters - James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna - join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement.

Intriguing story
Revisado: 07-08-22
Excellent performance. Emily Sutton-Smith is a great narrator. She handled the variety of characters professionally.
Dugoni knows how to weave humor and intrigue. What little action there was, was well paced. The author could have set the expectation of Tracy's intent earlier in the story. It would have helped with believability.

Genre straddling. Not purely any one genre. in the end, it was mostly a romance, I suppose. It was wrapped around a horror/action/thriller, but the predominant theme was everlasting love.

Exceptional Fantasy; highly recommend
Revisado: 10-11-18
Fantastic. I loved the pacing and the character development. I am less enamored than most with the magic system for which he is famous, but it is almost a character in itself, and undergoes its own form of development. This is its redeeming quality, I suppose. However, it is the characters that drive the story and that is what makes me happy.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Historia
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Excellent Modern Fantasy
Revisado: 05-04-18
It is rare that I prefer Book 2 to Book 1 in a series. At first I was a little concerned that the length of this book only served to drag out the main story. Now I love the way Rothfuss has structured the tale (although it sometimes feels like 4 "training montages" back-to-back).
I hope Book 3 comes out soon. I am not a patient person.
