Historia
A Sunday Times number one bestseller in the United Kingdom, this is the intimate and revealing autobiography of Margaret Rhodes, first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and niece of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Margaret was born into the Scottish aristocracy, into a now almost vanished world of privilege. Royalty often came to stay, and her house was run in the style of Downton Abbey. During the Second World War, she "lodged" at Buckingham Palace while she worked for MI5.

A bit disjointed, but delightful
Revisado: 08-01-23
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it’s performance. A loving tribute to family that just happens to be Royal. Lots of patriotism and bravery. The timeline is a bit disjointed, sometimes leaving you wondering if references are to her her Aunt, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, or to her cousin Queen Elizabeth II,Just keep listening.

Historia
As a member of Scotland Yard's elite Royalty Protection Department, Inspector Ken Wharfe was personal protection officer - in other words, bodyguard - to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, during the years that saw the final breakdown of her marriage and her separation from Prince Charles. In that time he became a close friend and trusted confidant who shared her most private moments. His intimate firsthand account provides an affectionate, if not always uncritical, insight into this complex, troubled, but ultimately deeply fascinating woman.

Insider knowledge
Revisado: 10-27-19
Ken Wharfe was The Princess of Wales’ protect ion officer. His insider knowledge of the goings-on in the years before and after Diana’s death make for essential reading for those interested. I thoroughly appreciated Mr. Wharfe’s recounting.

Alfie Boe is the first official bad boy of opera: a musical superstar celebrated not only in Britain, but worldwide. This is the story of his life - the ups and the downs, from finding fame to losing his father - and, essentially, of his love affair with music. This is the tale of how Alfie went from car mechanic to the UK's most popular and well-known opera star, lauded by Baz Luhrman, Cameron Macintosh and Michael Parkinson as the best tenor we've produced in a generation.

Great for aspiring singers and fans
Revisado: 07-04-18
The “ back story “ of talented , charismatic singer /actor/ entertainer Alfie Boe. Humble upbringing, Royal music school training , seeking to be himself and not conform to being pressed into a mold. Good performance. Recommended for budding singers and fans of the guy “who sings a bit”.

Fascinating
Revisado: 06-09-18
The audio broadcast of QEII's coronation.
I found this fascinating! Imagine you are in your little home in England, listening to the radio coverage of the complicated coronation ceremony.
My advice is to watch the recent documentary on her coronation, then listen to this if you're interested.
Although the broadcaster's narrative is loud and clear, the choir's performances are not. Chalk it up to the microphones of the times. It is a fascinating study, though.

Tim gets tired!
Revisado: 03-12-18
I’m a Tim Curry fan, and a bigger fan of all things Peter Pan. This is the best of the versions on Audible in my opinion but 3/4 of the way through, Tim gets tired and drops his characters. Who was the editor?
Still recommend this over the others available, though

Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like "Buying the Plot" and "Nodding Off," Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life.

Historia
In A Royal Duty, Paul Burrell reveals the truth about Princess Diana, as well as a faithful account of her thoughts. He was the favourite footman who formed a unique relationship with the Queen. He was the butler who the Princess of Wales called "my rock" and "the only man I can trust". He was accused of theft, then acquitted following the historic intervention of the monarch. He was the Princess' most intimate confidant.

So glad I finally listened!
Revisado: 02-11-17
As an American Royalist since Diana appeared on the scene, I resisted this book for many years as I felt it was a betrayal on Paul Burrell's part to have written it . My opinion is now the opposite.
At almost 20 years on from her death , it was a fascinating listen. I was brought to smiles, chuckles , and of course tears.
Thank you , Paul , for your service and for the sacrifices made by you and your family for holding the course.
Highest recommendations to all those interested in the British Royal Family

This new audio set is a very special abridgement of two of Stephen R. Covey's best-selling business books, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit, read by Dr. Covey himself. We've condensed the content of two entire books into just six hours of audio, but you'll still enjoy Dr. Covey's lessons on powerful personal change and how to incorporate his ideas into your life to fulfill your ultimate potential.

BORING !
Revisado: 07-31-16
What did you like best about The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People & The 8th Habit (Special 6-Hour Abridgement)? What did you like least?
Oh. My. Goodness !!!! This 6 hour - yes, SIX HOUR - abridgement nearly killed me 35 minutes in. Mr. Covey is so excited about this 8th habit... but he surely doesn't get to the point. Do yourself a favor and: 1. go to a brick and mortar or Public Library 2. Peruse through a copy of this title, zeroing in on the table of contents. 3. Scan and return to the shelf.
God Bless us, every one!
What was most disappointing about Stephen R. Covey’s story?
Far too long for this subject matter.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Stephen R. Covey?
No one should be subjected to reading this sleeper, unless he/she needs the money desperately.
What did you take away from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People & The 8th Habit (Special 6-Hour Abridgement) that you can apply to your work?

Joan Rivers was known all over the world - from the Palace Theater to Buckingham Palace, from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the footlights of Broadway, from the days of talkies to hosting talk shows. But there was only one person who knew Joan intimately, one person who the authorities would call when she got a little out of hand. Her daughter and best friend, Melissa.

Revisado: 08-16-15
I would recommend this book to any Rivers fan, or fan of Strong Women. Especially nice that it's read by its author , Joan's daughter Melissa. Be warned , gentile Classics Collection and Jewelry by Joan Rivers fans: no holds barred on the F Bombs! If you can put up with them, you will truly enjoy this book. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because of the language
