Historia
How can we make intelligent decisions about our increasingly technology-driven lives if we don’t understand the difference between the myths of pseudoscience and the testable hypotheses of science? Pulitzer Prize-winning author and distinguished astronomer Carl Sagan argues that scientific thinking is critical not only to the pursuit of truth but to the very well-being of our democratic institutions.

Best book ever written. Horrible narration.
Revisado: 10-19-17
The dramatic cadence, strange inflections, and unnatural pauses by the narrator was horrible. Virtually unreadable.

Historia
Since Darwin's day, we've been told that sexual monogamy comes naturally to our species. Mainstream science - as well as religious and cultural institutions - has maintained that men and women evolved in families in which a man's possessions and protection were exchanged for a woman's fertility and fidelity. But this narrative is collapsing....

Great read with reservations
Revisado: 01-25-17
A great read that will make you challenge many assumptions about how or society views marriage. Though I question whether they were picking and choosing which scientific evidence they used based on wanting to support their narrative. It seems to me they were dismissing evidence of what they call "The Standard Narrative" too quickly. Though overall I do agree with much of the book and it's definitely will make you think.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

Likely to become the book I most recommend people.
Revisado: 09-25-15
I'd rank this book within the top 5 I've ever read. It ties in many things together and explains them in everyday language. I think it will challenge anyone who reads it regardless of their ideological background. it's a must read.
The primary fault I noticed is that it is too general. With grand sweeps of the hand he makes too broad of condemnations or statements without acknowledging the nuances. This must be done in order to keep the book readable and short. But any expert in one of the many areas he discussed will surely take exception to his description of their area of expertise. Despite this I highly recommend the book to everyone.

A good pairing with the movie. I particularly liked the interview explaining the book/movie background.

I've seen Second City in person and thought it was hilarious. I think something gets lost with just audio and no visuals. It was funny, but I wouldn't call it "The Best Of..."

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long.
