Historia
The Soul of Baseball is as much the story of Buck O'Neil as it is the story of baseball. Driven by a relentless optimism and his two great passions - for America's pastime and for jazz, America's music - O'Neil played solely for love. In an era when greedy, steroid-enhanced athletes have come to characterize professional ball, Posnanski offers a salve for the damaged spirit: the uplifting life lessons of a truly extraordinary man who never missed an opportunity to enjoy and love life.

A fascinating look at a true Hall of Famer.
Revisado: 12-09-21
I recently saw a presentation through the Baseball Hall of Fame with the author that spotlighted this book and his relationship with Buck O’Neil. Also have been following Bob Kendrick’s Black Diamond’s podcast. Bob is President of the Negro League Museum and a friend of Buck as well. These two gentlemen have peaked my interest in Buck and I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about this recently elected member to The Baseball Hall of Fame. Thought I knew about Buck before, learned so much more about him. He was an amazing advocate for the players of the Negro Leagues and a great human.

I enjoyed the story and performance, but am not a fan of the "Booktrack Edition". It was not real prevalent but was annoying at times. The story had enough twists and turns to keep me interested and this is a new character, different enough circumstances and interesting story. CHASING THE DIME will likely find its place in my rotation for another listen or more.

Historia
Three days before the 1969 Super Bowl, Joe Namath promised the nation that he would lead the New York Jets to an 18-point underdog victory against the seemingly invincible Baltimore Colts. When the final whistle blew, that promise had been kept. Namath was instantly heralded as a gridiron god, while his rugged good looks, progressive views on race, and boyish charm quickly transformed him - in an era of raucous rebellion, shifting social norms, and political upheaval - into both a bona fide celebrity and a symbol of the commercialization of pro sports.

Memories!
Revisado: 08-24-19
I was drawn to this audiobook after seeing Joe on TV, he was a favorite of mine for that Super Bowl and the story or the game and his life is great. To me though what really makes the audiobook is that it is Joe Namath reading it, telling you what he was thinking.throughout the game, his career and his life. Joe had certain flair to be sure and it shows here. I don't think I would have enjoyed this audiobook a tenth as much without Joe, it would have just been another recording. I just finished my first listen, about to start the second, knowing how it finishes doesn't spoil it.Thanks Joe for telling your story.

Make sure the kids aren’t around! Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the art of the children’s bedtime story. Nick Offerman presents this collection of 12 short stories written in the style of a classic kids' tale, but with a decidedly dark and adult approach. What really happened after Snow White died, from the perspective of the one medically trained dwarf? A naive wizard professor reports back from the trenches of an underprivileged school of magic. Thought I had it figured out
Revisado: 01-31-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Breach of Power to be better than the print version?
First time for me with this series, thought I had the story figured out but not exactly. Really enjoyed the story and of course Scott Brick makes even better.
What did you like best about this story?
Great intrigue, story moved along well, thought I saw where it was going, but didn't expect everything that happened.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I depend on recoded books for entertainment on my commute, Scott Brick as always provides a very focused performance, I bought this book because the story sounded interesting and Scott was reading, sorry got to go, just bought the first Jake Pendleton book and have to download and get started!
