Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

Fascinating book
Revisado: 08-08-24
Very well written book personifying the 1950s postwar, McCarthy era. All characters were very well developed and helped the reader understand more about the era. As always the narrator is flawless in her accents and story telling. Will listen again.

Excellent historical fiction
Revisado: 02-15-24
This book is one of the few that tell a history of the women who served in Vietnam. The author, as always, does a great job developing characters and telling a story. It seems to be well researched and is developed.

This novel is very well written with insightful character development, descriptive settings and captivating plot. Both narrators did a phenomenal job with the characters and story line. This audiobook definitely kept my attention. Highly recommend. Loved a historical fiction about the iron curtain.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Historia
Only God knew why Jillian Slater agreed to return to New Orleans on the news that her father had finally drunk himself to death. It's not like they were close. She hadn't seen him - or her grandmother, the ice queen - in almost 20 years. But when Adella Atwater, the manager of her grandmother's apartment house, called and said her expenses would be paid if she'd fly in for the burial, a free trip to New Orleans was too intriguing to resist.
