Historia
In April of 1846, 21-year-old Sarah Graves, intent on a better future, set out west from Illinois with her new husband, her parents, and eight siblings. Seven months later, after joining a party of pioneers led by George Donner, they reached the Sierra Nevada Mountains as the first heavy snows of the season closed the pass ahead of them. In early December, starving and desperate, Sarah and 14 others set out for California on snowshoes and over the next 32 days endured almost unfathomable hardships and horrors.

An excellent historically narrative.

"Harrowing" is the right word to attribute to Sarah Graves' story. Wonderfully performed and researched. I could not stop listening.
I felt that the epilogue went in just a touch too long, though.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

An excellent, if safe, return to form for King
Revisado: 07-16-18
Will Partton is excellent as a narrator and provides an incredible amount of soul to the characters. The story itself is an engaging unraveling of the mystery behind what would cause Terry Maitland, a pillar of his small town, to commit a gruesome and unspeakable murder. The tropes used here by King are not new but are comfortable. Any seasoned reader of Kings will find a lot of familiar territory, executed well, but again you'll more than likely be able to discern what's hitting around the next corner, knowing doesn't detract from the tension and stress imparted in the last 1/3rd of the book. V good.
