Historia
Okiku wants vengeance...and she gets it. Whenever there's a monster hurting a child - the same way she was hurt 300 years ago in Japan - her spirit is there to deliver punishment. But one American boy draws her like no other. The two are pulled into a world of eerie doll rituals and dark Shinto exorcisms that will take them from the American Midwest to the remote valleys and shrines of Aomori, Japan. The boy is not a monster, but something evil writhes beneath his skin, trapped by a series of intricate tattoos.

Historia
In the eight kingdoms, none have greater strength or influence than the asha, who hold elemental magic. But only a bone witch has the power to raise the dead. Tea has used this dark magic to breathe life into those she has loved and lost...and those who would join her army against the deceitful royals. But Tea's quest to conjure a shadowglass, to achieve immortality for the one person she loves most in the world, threatens to consume her. Tea's heartsglass only grows darker with each new betrayal. They all feed the darkrot that is gradually consuming her heartsglass.

Historia
For years, my family was in possession of the top half of an ancient sword. Now this dangerous artifact has been stolen, and it’s up to me to recover it. With the help of my friends, I must follow the trail of clues to find both halves of the sword before they can be reforged. When my investigation leads me to an Elvis-impersonating vampire, a magic carpet lizard, and a homicidal banshee with no regard for the Fountains of Bellagio, I know I’m in for a rough ride.

Outfox is an enjoyable story.

The story is enjoyable. However, I feel it was written for a teenager audience. Additionally, the "I said, she said, he said" is very irritating when listening to the narration being read.

Historia
It's my second year training to become a Sentry of the South at Spellslingers Academy of Magic and I'm still fighting a reputation I don't deserve. It was my grandmother's addiction to magic that tarnished our family name - a grandmother I still love and adore. When she asks a favor of me, I can't refuse her dying wish...and it sets off a chain of events I never expected. With the help of a charming and sexy druid, I set out to locate a missing professor, but what we discover is far worse than we ever imagined.

Outlier was enjoyable. The storyline held my interest. Character development could have been more indepth in areas but visualization was easy. I look forward to the next in this collection.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Battlefield of the mind
Revisado: 05-09-21
Doesn't matter if you know little about chess; the story is more about battling feelings of loneliness and inferiority while fighting the tendency to self destruction. The book itself is a pleasure. The narrator is breathy and makes the story hard to listen.
