Historia
The Martian meets Gravity when Army Pilot Vaughn Singleton, Earth’s last man, rushes to Area 51 in search of a spaceplane after he discovers the last woman is stranded on the International Space Station and barely alive - thus beginning a race against time. The event that wiped life from the planet started at the supercollider. It created a rift in space-time. The astronaut stranded aboard the space station, Commander Angela Brown, is a theoretical physicist who used to work at the collider.

Perils of Pauline
Revisado: 06-13-17
While the premise of the book was very good and intriguing, I was progressively annoyed by the male character and found both characters thin on back story and personality which a tale of solitude needs. Worse were the ever occurring fatal crisis and narrow escapes that peppered the story and made it seem like an old movie serial or part of the Goosebumps series. The narration was quite good and worked well with two narrators.
I am not sure if I would continue with the series.

Historia
Most of us have a limited understanding of the powerful role economics has played in shaping human civilization. This makes economic history - the study of how civilizations structured their environments to provide food, shelter, and material goods - a vital lens through which to think about how we arrived at our present, globalized moment. Designed to fill a long-empty gap in how we think about modern history, these 48 lectures are a comprehensive journey through more than 600 years of economic history.

economic history
Revisado: 06-02-17
this was a complex group of lectures about topics I know very little about. I enjoyed the new perspective and the professor's work to bring economics down to my level. A few moments more on economic theory would have helped but this was a large topic to cover. I would listen again.

Preachy ending
Revisado: 10-28-15
This series had an intriguing premise at its start and I enjoyed the first few books. But as the body count rose and rose and betrayal and abuse and conflict accelerated I wondered if I may have to start rooting for the infected. This final book was dark and bitter and the writing was strained and thick with metaphors and strings of adjectives. Sadly the premise and the story didn't hold up after all the volumes.

Historia
There are tales of Middle-earth from times long before The Lord of the Rings. The story told in this book is set in the great country that lay beyond the Grey Havens in the West: lands where Treebeard once walked, but which were drowned in the great cataclysm that ended the First Age of the World.

Could not continue
Revisado: 03-24-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I don't know what could improve this. This is not one of Tolkein's best works and seems unpolished and unfinished. A more upbeat narrative would help.
What didn’t you like about Christopher Lee’s performance?
Christopher lee, while a great actor, added a profound slowly and gloomy pace to this text. that made what was already a thick and studious story, just too thick to follow. The novelty of TLOTR " Saruman" wore off quickly.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment.

Historia
R is a young man with an existential crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend, Julie.

Deadness. Romeo. Juliet.
What other book might you compare Warm Bodies to and why?
This is a great mix of Frankenstein, Shakespeare and any zombie story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Delightful story with a funny and unique view of a zombie's world view.

Historia
In a vastly overpopulated near-future world, businesses have taken the place of governments and now hold all political power. States exist merely to ensure the survival of huge transnational corporations. Advertising has become hugely aggressive and boasts some of the world’s most powerful executives. Through advertising, the public is constantly deluded into thinking that all the products on the market improve the quality of life.

Good build...peters out.
Revisado: 03-04-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The author built an intriguing and terrifying world and could have used it to build a better story. The book ended suddenly and left me wondering what would have happened next.
What about Dan Bittner’s performance did you like?
Very good.
Was The Space Merchants worth the listening time?
Not really. I was disappointed. I expected a better read.

Historia
This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic tells the poignant tale of a Chinese farmer and his family in old agrarian China. The humble Wang Lung glories in the soil he works, nurturing the land as it nurtures him and his family. Nearby, the nobles of the House of Hwang consider themselves above the land and its workers; but they will soon meet their own downfall. The working people riot, breaking into the homes of the rich and forcing them to flee. When Wang Lung shows mercy to one noble and is rewarded, he begins to rise in the world, even as the House of Hwang falls.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
What a wonderful snapshot in time, beautifully written and crafted.
What did you like best about this story?
It offers insight into China's history and culture, translated by Buck into terms that a westerner can understand. There is foreboding also about the future.

Historia
A million-copy seller, Henry Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson is a classic economic primer. But it is also much more, having become a fundamental influence on modern “libertarian” economics of the type espoused by Ron Paul and others. Called by H. L. Mencken “one of the few economists in history who could really write,” Henry Hazlitt achieved lasting fame for this brilliant but concise work.

Economic argument
Revisado: 03-11-12
What would have made Economics in One Lesson better?
This is not so much an educational text as it is an argument for Mr Hazlitt's position. Some of his insight was valuable although it is not what I thought I was getting.
What three words best describe Jeff Riggenbach’s performance?
clear, flat
