Historia
Cassie Andrews works in a New York City bookshop, shelving books, making coffee for customers, and living an unassuming, ordinary life. Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book… It is the Book of Doors. Inscribed with enigmatic words and mysterious drawings, it promises Cassie that any door is every door. You just need to know how to open them.

Thoughtful and creative

I can imagine this book turned into a movie. It has a great storyline, interesting characters, and all the threads are tied neatly together by the end. The narrator has good pronunciation and a pleasant voice.

The story was ok, but the self entitled, whiny attitude of the main character was unappealing. The narrator was horrible. Won't listen to next book in the series, even if it's free.

wonderful series
Revisado: 10-23-22
Are you kidding?! 10 books for a couple credits! Jackpot! I thought the story or narration might be just OK, given the size of the set at that price, but the stories were really good and I kept going from one to the next. I wanted to find out what would happen next. And the narrator was fun to listen to, esp Adams (so familiar, lol). I highly recommend!

Historia
Nestled quietly on the Pacific Coast below San Francisco, Molena Point is a quaint hamlet - not the kind of place an escaped convict would choose for a hideout. But it just happens to be the home of a state's witness who put a thief named Cage Jones behind bars - until he broke out, that is. With danger closing in, the feline detective Joe Grey, his girlfriend Dulcie, and their tattercoat friend Kit must put paws and whiskers together to capture a very nasty criminal before he strikes again.

Ouch
Revisado: 09-03-22
This was my least favorite of Joe Grey mysteries so far, because of harshness of tone towards domestic abuse victims. It's good to bring awareness to violence and abuse, but this came across as unsympathetic. I know Wilma is tough, and situations are frustrating, but they are the victims. Also IMO, the plot on this one was too predictable. The previous stories were good and relaxing to listen to, so I will continue to the next book anyway.

witty humor and interesting plot
Revisado: 06-13-22
I found the author to be a very good narrator. She portrayed snark and witty humor very well, and there were several times when I did literally lol.
The characters were realistic and complicated. I normally can guess "who did it", but there were a few good options in this story. It was also good to hear that although the main character is a genius, she has real flaws and self-doubts that we all have about ourselves. She really enjoys her food!
Finally, I thought the story was well written. It seems a lot of mysteries, especially in the cozy sub-genre, follow a similar formula. This story was a little more unique, at least to me. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more in this series.

subtle humor and great characters
Revisado: 06-13-22
Cathy has a great, subtle sense of humor - she seems like she would be a fun person to befriend at a dinner party. The plot wasn't as hard to guess as in the first book, but the characters were fully developed and story was seamlessly and creatively written. I hope to hear more from her soon.

The story is cute - dogs, drinks, & murder. BUT the main character is pretty weak and the narrator is a pretty bad robot impersonator.

It has been one hundred years since Agatha Christie wrote her first novel and created the formidable Hercule Poirot. A brilliant and award-winning biographer, Laura Thompson now turns her sharp eye to Agatha Christie. Arguably the greatest crime writer in the world, Christie’s books still sell over four million copies each year - more than thirty years after her death - and it shows no signs of slowing.

Revisado: 09-18-21
Couldn't finish - overly detailed, repetitive/stagnant storyline, & monotone, almost whiny reading.
