Historia
As Martha Beck says in her book, “Integrity is the cure for psychological suffering. Period.” In The Way of Integrity, Beck presents a four-stage process that anyone can use to find integrity, and with it, a sense of purpose, emotional healing, and a life free of mental suffering. Much of what plagues us—people pleasing, staying in stale relationships, negative habits—all point to what happens when we are out of touch with what truly makes us feel whole.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

Historia
On a whim, Grady Kendall applies to work as a live-in caretaker for a luxury property in Hawaiʻi, as far from his small-town Maine life as he can imagine. Within days he's flying out to an estate on remote Hokuloa Road, where he quickly uncovers a dark side to the island’s idyllic reputation: it has long been a place where people vanish without a trace. When a young woman from his flight becomes the next to disappear, Grady is determined—and soon desperate—to figure out what's happened to Jessie, and to all those staring out of the island’s “missing" posters.

I moved from Maui to PA at the age of three. My “Hawaiian-Portagee” mother had an accent and spoke in the vernacular— how I enjoyed Kaleo Griffith’s performance— some good yeah?! Enjoy this Audiobook.

Historia
Who am I? Who were these people who made me who I am? And, what was this place? Was it ever what I thought it was? For celebrated journalist and author Julie Salamon, these recently became central questions. Salamon spent the first 18 years of her life Seaman, Ohio, a town that is part of the American heartland, a repository of mythology and misunderstanding.

Unlikely Friends— have a listen
Revisado: 07-07-21
Julie, a successful journalist, Jewish and white, her sister, plus one of her high school teachers and her childhood friends, one is African American, recollect and reflect during the Trump presidency, the pandemic and sociopolitical upheaval. Her formative years were spent in very small town Appalachia during the turmoil of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. This Audible book is intimate, gentle, well constructed—- good storytelling. Julie Salamon had her diaries to fall back on, and was able to interview key people in her life. This book is for just about all ages— nothing salacious— it’s tone kept me listening and gave this piece such structure. Gentle yet powerful—- it takes skill to knit together so much material and leave your readers thinking hard about race and politics. Well performed and well written.

Nicely done
Revisado: 09-12-19
This book is well written and as an audiobook, it is well produced. It seems carefully crafted. David Ackroyd’s narration is engaging and funny. Arielle Sitrick does a nice job as well. Bringing the everglades alive to the reader does occur in this novel. For more vivid descriptions of people, places and things try Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch or any of the Robert Galbraith novels.

Historia
In a sleepy seaside town in Maine, recently widowed Eveleth "Evvie" Drake rarely leaves her large, painfully empty house nearly a year after her husband’s death in a car crash. Everyone in town, even her best friend, Andy, thinks grief keeps her locked inside, and Evvie doesn’t correct them. Meanwhile, in New York City, Dean Tenney, former Major League pitcher and Andy’s childhood best friend, is wrestling with what miserable athletes living out their worst nightmares call the "yips": he can’t throw straight anymore, and, even worse, he can’t figure out why.

Historia
Toby Fleishman thought he knew what to expect when he and his wife of almost fifteen years separated: weekends and every other holiday with the kids, some residual bitterness, the occasional moment of tension in their co-parenting negotiations. He could not have predicted that one day, in the middle of his summer of sexual emancipation, Rachel would just drop their two children off at his place and simply not return. He had been working so hard to find equilibrium in his single life. The winds of his optimism, long dormant, had finally begun to pick up. Now this.

Okay so there is sexual content in this book. You’ve been warned. But this book is funny, heart breaking, scary, a family drama that’s a page turner even though there is no violence. This book might be brilliant. Enjoy.
