Historia
Richard Marx is one of the most accomplished singer-songwriters in the history of popular music. His self-titled 1987 album went triple platinum and made him the first male solo artist (and second solo artist overall after Whitney Houston) to have four singles from their debut crack the top three on the Billboard Hot 100. His follow-up, 1989’s Repeat Offender, was an even bigger smash, going quadruple platinum and landing two singles at number one.

Well worth the time.

I am a big fan of autobiographies and this one did not disappoint. I have been a fan of Richard Marx for ages and was shocked at how many artists he sang backup for or collaborated with. What an amazing career!

Historia
Mix tapes: We all have our favorites. Stick one into a deck, press play, and you’re instantly transported to another time in your life. For Rob Sheffield, that time was one of miraculous love and unbearable grief. A time that spanned seven years, it started when he met the girl of his dreams, and ended when he watched her die in his arms.

Only a few know the power of the Mix Tape
Revisado: 06-19-21
Growing up a shy geek in the 80s, Mix Tapes were my go-to for really opening my heart to someone. I understood the power of selecting the perfect songs and recording them in the perfect order to take someone on a 45 minute ride of emotions.
When Rob met Renee he knew that he wanted to be in her life, so he made her a Mix Tape. Their love of music, and each other grew and several Mix Tapes later they were married. Like all great love stories, theirs came crashing down with the sudden death of Renee. Rob struggled to exist in the void left by her absence, but with time (a lot of time) he learned to move forward. He learned the Renee had touched so many other lives in ways that he couldn't ever had imagined. What he did with Renee's hats got me all choked up.

Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

This is a great listen!

I had added this to my library some time back but could never justify the nearly five hours on a book that was not about some sort of improvement. I was taking a break from another book and wanted to try something different, and I was glad I did.
