Cute Stories
Revisado: 12-09-24
This was definitely a cute series of stories. The characters had sweet personalities and I liked the feeling of happily ever after, although the authors did not go there. Super quick listen.

Historia
Against the backdrop of worldwide, unexplainable natural disasters, Dr. Virginia Marilyn Edwards (Emmy Award-winner Kerry Washington) seeks out Agent Scott Thomas (Emmy Award-winner Laurence Fishburne) at a secretive government headquarters. Virginia claims these events are signs, and unless Agent Thomas helps her, she believes things will only get worse. Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

What in the Biblical Allusion!
Revisado: 10-05-22
On some level, a lot of us believe the Bible to be a warning. This story was captivating. Made me want to pick up the Bible to confirm a few things. LOL. Even if you are a non-believer, you can definitely enjoy the story. Felt like I could see the scenes as the characters were speaking. The sound effects were great. I wish there was a video trailer with the actors in character. I nonetheless did fine without.
This clearly needs additional ‘seasons’. I’ll be waiting!

Not What I Expected
Revisado: 08-22-22
This is my opinion and not a criticism of the story or author. Not sure what I thought this story was about.
This story seesaws between comedy and horror. One moment I’m cracking up at how ridiculous/funny Allison is and the next, wanting to scream at her because she is an idiot who is about to get herself killed.
I was expecting a revelation about Allison’s mental health which was never really discussed. I wanted there to be something wrong with her, because that would explain everything she does or does not do. You can’t blame everything on a certain event. Now I’m wondering if I was a bit too judgmental of her. Was the ending satisfying enough. Was that the conclusion, the closure I needed?
I wanted more. A harsher punishment for the cameraman. A more developed love story between Allison and Danny. More about the relationship between Allison and her brother. The full story on her father’s illnesses and death. And what happens next for/to Allison. Because the ending…
I still would recommend this book because it isn’t bad. Allison is a different type of character and on some level I can relate a bit to her. She doesn’t deal with stuff when and how she should. But why dictate how people should or shouldn’t react in certain situations.
4 stars because **I** wanted more.

Good Story
Revisado: 06-14-22
This was a really interesting book. Caribbean culture is so similar, although most of us are separated by bodies of water. I remember reading Zora Neal Hurston's Tell My Horse and the duppies and zombies of Jamaica and Haiti, and this book brought back some of the excitement I felt when reading TMH (non-fiction). If you are also from the Caribbean, this book will have you laughing at some of the narrative, because you can see your own family members speaking some of the lines and behaving the way the characters did.
Frayed Mother-daughter relationship, sweet love and support, and some villains. I would have wanted to hear more about how the birds really played into this story and how certain characters got their 'power', but maybe the author plans on coming out with parallel stories?

Keyne battles to be accepted for who he truly is—the king’s son. And Sinne dreams of seeing the world, of finding adventure.

Great Story
Revisado: 12-01-21
I would have been confused if I read this instead of listening as I did. Having each chapter written/spoken in a different sister’s voice was great. I got to hear how each sister’s age was reflected by her words and voice.
I was saddened by the turn of event towards the end, but glad that Constantine was recognized and accepted for who he really is.
It felt that all the characters matured as time went by and truly earned their final spot in the story.

Love! Sweet!
Revisado: 08-05-20
I listened this book just because it was written by Common. I was very happy to hear his voice too. I loved the pieces of his life he chose to share. They tied some of the things I thought of him to his music. It is always nice to hear someone talk about what love means to them. It was relaxing hearing his thoughts on love. We often idolize artists and think they are perfect, but he said it himself: Michelle said nope! I recommend this light read/easy listen.

Funny...But Real
Revisado: 06-16-20
Some of us out there can’t take another stuffy self help book. I’d rather hear/read a few (or many) f* bombs when doing some ‘soul searching’. It feel more real when there is emotion. I don’t want to hear from someone who hasn’t gone through the very things they are trying to teach me about. Get this book!
