Historia
Years ago, Juliet left a little piece of her heart in Paris - and now, separated from her husband and with her children flying the nest, it's time to get it back! She puts on her best red lipstick, books a cosy attic apartment near Notre-Dame and takes the next train out of London. Arriving at the Gare du Nord, the memories come flooding back: bustling street cafés, cheap wine in candlelit bars and a handsome boy with glittering eyes. But Juliet has also been keeping a secret for over two decades - and she begins to realise it's impossible to move forwards without first looking back.

Wanted to love this story, especially as it is about Paris…
Revisado: 04-28-25
This story has some fun moments and the protagonist is lovable, but it is so dragged out and towards the end gets very predictable. The parts where she is discovering wonderful places in Paris pulls the reader in.

Historia
Beautiful Caroline Crale was convicted of poisoning her husband, but just like the nursery rhyme, there were five other "little pigs" who could have done it: Philip Blake (the stockbroker), who went to market; Meredith Blake (the amateur herbalist), who stayed at home; Elsa Greer (the three-time divorcee), who had her roast beef; Cecilia Williams (the devoted governess), who had none; and Angela Warren (the disfigured sister), who cried all the way home.
Sixteen years later, Caroline's daughter is determined to prove her mother's innocence.

Meryl Streep is amazing as the narrator of this fascinating book. The character development was excellent. My only negative thought is that it dragged out a little longer than necessary.

This story is very predictable, and many parts are repetitive. The narrator has a very stilted style. I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn’t.

Revisado: 10-17-22
I love to read English ChickLit, but sometimes the authors get so repetitive, and treat the reader like they are not too bright. This was a great treat, because the author had a fun story line with twists and turns. The development of characters and their friendships is very heartwarming.
For people who have trouble with swearing this is not the book for you. It did not bother me a bit.

Where was the editor? So much repetition!
Revisado: 10-02-22
I have enjoyed Heidi Swain’s books in the past, but in this one she treats the reader like an idiot and keeps repeating and repeating and repeating the conflict going on in the heroine’s head. I wanted to grown out loud yes I get it!
