Historia
In her best-selling memoir North of Normal, Cea wrote with grace about her unconventional childhood - her early years living in a tipi in Alberta with her pot-smoking, free-loving counterculture family. But her struggles do not end when she leaves her family at the age of 13 to become a model. Honest and daring, Nearly Normal reveals the many ways that Cea's unconventional childhood continues to reverberate through the years.

I love how the author, CIA Sunshine Person reads her own story as written and doesn't try to make men voices different than her own. It's like reading it myself. Excellent Read.

Seattle, 1933: Vera Ray kisses her three-year-old son, Daniel, good night and reluctantly leaves for work. She hates the night shift, but it’s the only way she can earn enough to keep destitution at bay. In the morning - even though it’s the second of May - a heavy snow is falling. Vera rushes to wake Daniel, but his bed is empty. His teddy bear lies outside in the snow. Seattle, present day: On the second of May, reporter Claire Aldridge awakens to another late-season snowstorm. Assigned to cover this "blackberry winter" and its predecessor decades earlier, Claire learns of Daniel’s unsolved abduction and vows to unearth the truth.

I wish the narrators of audible books would just read the books instead of acting out the characters with different voices.
I listened to a book that Tom Hanks narrated and he read it well without using weird voices for different characters and it was so much easier to listen to and enjoy.

Historia
When Caroline wakes up in a Paris hospital with no memory of her past, she’s confused to learn that for years she’s lived a sad, reclusive life in a sprawling apartment on the rue Cler. Slowly regaining vague memories of a man and a young child, she vows to piece her life back together - though she can’t help but feel she may be in danger. A budding friendship with the chef of a charming nearby restaurant takes her mind off her foggy past, as does a startling mystery from decades prior.

Historia
Leslie Maitland is an award-winning former New York Times investigative reporter whose mother and grandparents fled Germany in 1938 for France, where, as Jews, they spent four years as refugees—the last two under risk of Nazi deportation. In 1942 they made it onto the last boat to escape France before the Germans sealed the harbors. Then, barred from entering the United States, they lived in Cuba for almost two years before immigrating to New York.

In the beginning I struggled with the names of the male characters as to who was who but as time went by I got it straight.
This book was very interesting and educational and romantic. I'm so glad Janine and Roland were able to reunite. Thank you, Leslie Maitland for your time consuming research.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Blue people
Revisado: 12-28-20
I very much enjoyed this book. Historical fiction set in the 1930's. I learned a lot of information I had not known before. such as the library program set up by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, where people were hired to take reading materials to the mountain people who other wise would not have it.
Also I had never heard of Blue people before.

Could it be they were a result of a genuine accident, as Aneta is claiming?

my review
Revisado: 11-16-20
In the beginning I struggled listening to the narrator, but as I listened further I got used to listening to her. Overall it was a good story. Sometimes there was too much detail. Weird birthmother. I felt bad for Cathy, the carer, in the end.
