Historia
Victorian London was notorious for its pickpockets. But in the country houses of the elite, gentleman burglars, art thieves and con men preyed on the rich and titled. Wealthy victims—with their pride and reputation at stake—would never go to the police. What they needed was a society insider, one of their own, a person of discretion and finely tuned powers of observation.

Unbelievable Story
Revisado: 05-18-24
Although I absolutely loved the story, I was quite surprised that a proper lady was allowed to take on such an active role in solving mysteries. Victorian moirés were much more relaxed than what I anticipated to be true.

Another Powerful Novel by Kate Quinn
Revisado: 01-16-23
Kate Quinn takes the reader through the true story of the Soviet sniper known as Lady Death, “Mila” Pavlichenko. Her back story is interwoven with Mila’s publicity tour in the US seeking support on the Russian front of WW II. The twists and turns of the story keep the reader riveted as Mila navigates the journey to become, not only a decorated war hero, but also a historian and research assistant. Her unlikely friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt is an added jewel.

Another Masterpiece
Revisado: 12-07-22
I love this carefully crafted story about our beloved Armand Gamache! This one incredibly told a story within a story, which was challenging to follow since I listen to the audiobook version. Robert Bathurst, narrator for Louise Penny’s books, always allows the suspense to build until you find yourself gasping for breath as the storyline continues. Thank you Louise Penny for sharing your stories with us! We look forward to the next installment with great anticipation!
