Disappointing
Revisado: 04-16-21
Poorly organized. Many disclaimers and too much personal innuendo. I am returning this deal of the day.

Historia
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye.

Predictable
Revisado: 05-02-20
Long, sad and predictable. Beautifully written but I kept wishing for likable characters. Appropriately - the story plods along until it thankfully ends.

Disappointing Narration
Revisado: 09-09-19
The Story is quite simplistic. The narration makes it impossible for me to continue. The accents are overdone and seem derogatory. I plan to return this book.

Historia
The place: central Florida. The situation: a sensational murder trial, set in a courthouse more Soviet than Le Corbusier; a rich, white teenage girl - a twin - on trial for murdering her toddler brother. Two of the jurors: Hannah, a married 52-year-old former Rolling Stone and Interview Magazine photographer of rock stars and socialites, and Graham, a 41-year-old anatomy professor. Both are sequestered along with the other jurors at the Econo Lodge off I-75. Hannah and Graham fall into a furtive affair, keeping their oath as jurors never to discuss the trial.

Thankfully not longer
Revisado: 08-06-19
Interesting but depressing story. Nice discussion of careers and their (stereotypical) impact on relationships. I did not enjoy the narration - particularly the men’s voices.

Historia
Are art and science separated by an unbridgeable divide? Can they find common ground? In this book, neuroscientist Eric R. Kandel, whose remarkable scientific career and deep interest in art give him a unique perspective, demonstrates how science can inform the way we experience a work of art and seek to understand its meaning. Kandel illustrates how reductionism - the distillation of larger scientific or aesthetic concepts into smaller, more tractable components - has been used by scientists and artists alike to pursue their respective truths.

Fascinating- Excellent Narration
Revisado: 10-28-18
The subject matter is fascinating. The text successfully creates clear mental images of the art being discussed without the need to consult the pictures in the book. Narration is excellent.
