The rise and fall of a mislead gun industry
Revisado: 01-28-22
The author shares not only his story rising through the ranks of the gun industry.
He also shares the sick and twisted way Donald Trump with the NRA's Help made it ok to allow school shootings and advocating for killing anyone that did not agree with their racist and xenophobic beliefs. I did learn that under President Obama was when the gun industry was really profitable which I had not heard before.
This book confirms all of the fears i have had about the NRA under Trump and the mentally ill people that have no business owning guns committing mass shootings because of the misinformation being put forth by NRA Television and conservative commentators like Dana Loesch. Sad to see that Charlton Heston also had in hand in this propaganda. All of these people have blood on their hands and even responsible gun owners have been lumped in with these fake hunters like Donald Trump Jr and Jimmy John and their ilk.

Clive Davis is a master storyteller
Revisado: 01-26-22
Mr. Davis is one of the most succesful record executives in the history of the business.
This book does a great job of taking you all through his life and to his rise to the top of the music and entertainment industry. I really enjoyed the narrator as he sounds similar to Mr. Davis. I learned a lot about what a smart and sharp buinsessman Mr. Davis is as well as his genuine love and appreciation for his artists and their music.
If you are a fan of music, the music business or Clive Davis or any of the labels or artists that he has been responsible for signing and introducing the world to. You will enjoy this book.

Historia
Hounded by the tabloid media, driven from his self-made sanctuary at Neverland, Michael Jackson spent his final years moving from city to city, living with his three children in virtual seclusion - a futile attempt to escape a world that wouldn’t leave him alone. During that time, two men served as the singer’s personal security team: Bill Whitfield, a former cop and veteran of the security profession, and Javon Beard, a brash, untested rookie, both single fathers themselves. Stationed at his side nearly 24/7, their job was to see and hear everything that transpired.

These men really cared about MJ and his kids
Revisado: 01-26-22
All of the former bodyguards that wrote this book. Clearly had a love and respect and sense of honor and duty to Michael Jackson and his children. Even when times where really tough as in they were not getting paid for months on end. Bill and Javon still stayed and protected Mr. Jackson and his 3 children.
You can tell both of these men cared deeply about the children and wanted the best for them as well.
It was so crazy to read stories about The Jackson family just showing up at Michael's house and causing a scene to try and see him even going so far as Randy ramming his Mercedes through the gate of the home. It was very sad to hear of the rapid decline of Mr . Jackson and all of the people that pushed him into an early grave.
Thank you Bill and Javon for your fond memories of the King of Pop as a dad and for giving the fans a side that we would not have been able to see if you had not written of your time working with him.

Historia
Prince was a musical genius, one of the most beloved, accomplished, and acclaimed musicians of our time. The Beautiful Ones is the story of how Prince became Prince - a first-person account of a kid absorbing the world around him and then creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and fame that would come to define him. This work is not just a tribute to an icon, but an original and energizing literary work in its own right, full of Prince’s ideas and vision, his voice and image - his undying gift to the world.

Historia
Neal Karlen was the only journalist Prince granted in-depth press interviews to for more than a dozen years, from before Purple Rain to when the artist changed his name to an unpronounceable glyph. Karlen interviewed Prince for three Rolling Stone cover stories, wrote “3 Chains o’ Gold”, Prince’s “rock video opera”, as well as the star’s last testament. According to Prince's former fiancée, Susannah Melvoin, Karlen was “the only reporter who made Prince sound like what he really sounded like”.

An interesting and sad look at Prince
Revisado: 10-13-21
This is a candid book with recordings of interviews with Prince
backing up most of what the author wrote on the often misunderstood American Musical Genius.
Neal Karlen gives us a glimpse of what it was like to hang out with Prince when there was no one but the two of them around.
The saddest part of this story is that Prince foretells his death and continues to emphasize that is worst fear is dying alone. Hearing this is heartbreaking to listen to.
It's definitely a book you should check out if you're a fan of music and not just Prince.

Historia
What story begins in a bedroom in suburban New Jersey in the early '60s, unfolds on some of the country's largest stages, and then ranges across the globe, demonstrating over and over again how rock and roll has the power to change the world for the better? This story. The first true heartbeat of Unrequited Infatuations is the moment when Stevie Van Zandt trades in his devotion to the Baptist religion for an obsession with rock and roll.

I highly recommend this book to any fan of music.
This book narrated by the author is like sitting down and having a long chat with him.
Stevie Van Zandt is responsible for creating not only great music, killer SXM radio channels Little Steven's Underground Garage and Outlaw Country. He has created a music history curriculum that can be used in schools of all ages,
He has done so much in his life that this book covers in depth.
