Historia
In our modern age the biblical Genesis flood account has been probed and analyzed for answers to scientific, apologetic, and historical questions. It is a text that has called forth flood geology, fueled searches for remnants of the ark on Mount Ararat, and inspired a full-size replica of Noah's ark in a biblical theme park. Some claim that the very veracity of Scripture hinges on a particular reading of the flood narrative. But do we understand what we are reading? Longman and Walton urge us to ask, what might the biblical author have been saying to his ancient audience?

Definitely worth the read/listen

Don’t agree with every conclusion or even assumption or “fact” put forth but this needs to be part of the conversation. Good job!

Historia
Combining the expertise of a biblical scholar and a missionary practitioner, Misreading Scripture with Individualist Eyes is an essential guidebook to the cultural background of the Bible and how it should inform our reading. E. Randolph Richards and Richard James explore deep social structures of the ancient Mediterranean - kinship, patronage, and brokerage-along with their key social tools-honor, shame, and boundaries - that the biblical authors lived in and lie below the surface of each text.

The first book was great but this one takes it to another level. Fantastic context everyone needs to build into their paradigm when studying the Bible.

Historia
Have you ever wondered why we Christians do what we do for church every Sunday morning? Why do we "dress up" for church? Why does the pastor preach a sermon each week? Why do we have pews, steeples, choirs, and seminaries? This volume reveals the startling truth: most of what Christians do in present-day churches is not rooted in the New Testament, but in pagan culture and rituals developed long after the death of the apostles.

I have actually already been through Reimagining Church and Insurgent but I do wish I would have started here, anyways if you haven’t read the other 2 they fall perfectly in line with continuing the conversation started here.
Amazing book, highly recommend reading it, this has to be part of the conversation if following Jesus is your priority.
