Historia
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

Would Love for this to be a TV Series!
Revisado: 12-02-21
I "lived" in this fantasy for all 22-1/2 hours! I wanted a sequel, and if it were a TV series it would be one on which I would be hooked. Some of it seemed to be pure fantasy, and yet believable at the same time. I loved the characters and how the author developed their personalities. I've actually listened to it twice now (this was the second time around after a year between). Just as good the second time around. Please write a sequel!!

Historia
Passionate, earthy, deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable contribution to modern fiction: a vibrant new perspective of female life in the age that shaped present day civilization and values.
If you like The Red Tent, try The Harlot by the Side of the Road, a recounting of some of the most startling and explicit writings from The Old Testament.

Should be rated "Steamy"
Revisado: 05-25-18
I really wish Audible would start some sort of rating system for sex, foul language and violence so we aren't surprised. This book should be rated "steamy" in which case I would not have purchased it, and since it was part of a two-for-one deal, I don't think I can return it. I wasn't expecting a biblical account, but I do like historical fiction and figured this would be safe to listen to. After the first hour or two I shut it down and removed the book from my device. If you don't mind steamy sex-talk, this is a well-written book (from what I heard so far), but it's not for me. The narrator was pretty good, however.

Historia
Driven from Ireland during the potato famine, Protestant Victoria MacPherson and Catholic Maeve O'Reilly find themselves thrown together aboard a Manhattan-bound ship. After a treacherous journey, they arrive in New York City in 1851, with only a small purse of silver and the promise that Maeve's brother will find them there. But when he doesn't show, the girls are quickly conned out of their savings by a smooth-talking scam artist, leaving the two destitute in the tenements of Lower Manhattan.

Loved it!
Revisado: 07-30-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Victoria Crossing to be better than the print version?
Yes... I loved the narrator's Irish accent, which I would not have been able to drum up in my own mind if reading this.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Victoria's perseverance and strength of character.
What about Rosemary Benson’s performance did you like?
Her ability to do a wonderful Irish accent, but also her "male voices" were believable and didn't sound "sleazy" (like some female narrators make their masculine voices sound like). She did a fantastic job!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The American Dream is available to all who are willing to work hard.
Any additional comments?
Loved this story and the narration. I got totally lost in it.

Language alert
Revisado: 07-30-16
Would you try another book from Anne Stuart and/or Jill Redfield?
Probably not.
What was most disappointing about Anne Stuart’s story?
Within the first few chapters I realized I was listening to an X-rated story, which is something I don't care to pollute my mind with. I wish these books were rated like for the movies.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was fine.
Did Consumed by Fire inspire you to do anything?
Stop listening to it and never buy another book by this author.
Any additional comments?
It would be helpful if Audible would give ratings such as "Language," "Sexuality," "Violence," etc., for those of us who don't care to dive into that stuff.
