Historia
"Sixty years ago I found myself distracted," Eugene Peterson writes. "A chasm had developed between the way I was preaching from the pulpit and my deepest convictions on what it meant to be a pastor."
And so began Peterson's journey to live and teach a life of congruence - congruence between preaching and living, between what we do and the way we do it, between what is written in scripture and how we live out that truth.
Nothing captures the biblical foundation for this journey better than Peterson's teachings over his 29 years as a pastor.

Historia
When Cherringham choir stalwart Arthur Chisholm is robbed in the dead of night, ending up in hospital, it seems he's just the victim of bad luck. Bad timing too, since he will now miss the choir's special holiday performance of Handel's Messiah - to be performed with scores of other local choirs, in London's Royal Albert Hall. But as more of their fellow choir members are burgled, Jack and Sarah realise these crimes are no coincidence.

Still loving …
Revisado: 10-21-23
Obviously after 43 installments I love the series. It’s a good break from all the news going on today on radio and telly. Neil Dudgeon I could listen to you all day. This story prepared the way for Christmas by using the Messiah. Thanks for a lovely afternoon ❣️

Historia
On the first snowy night of winter, Detective Inspector Vera Stanhope sets off for her home in the hills. Though the road is familiar, she misses a turning and soon becomes lost and disorientated. A car has skidded off the narrow road in front of her, its door left open, and she stops to help. There is no driver to be seen, so Vera assumes that the owner has gone to find help. But a cry calls her back: a toddler is strapped in the back seat.

Enjoyable…
Revisado: 02-20-23
I actually enjoy the reader with exception of Joe’s voice which sounds dull and silly. The writing is good. I don’t understand why everyone is trying so hard to impress Vera and the necessity of being the one to come in with the best find. There are times I feel we are back in a junior high competition.

Historia
In March 2020, at the request of the Los Angeles Times, Charles Finch became a reluctant diarist: As California sheltered in place, he began to write daily notes about the odd ambient changes in his own life and in the lives around him. The result is What Just Happened. In a warm, candid, welcoming voice, and in the tradition of Woolf and Orwell, Finch brings us into his own world: taking long evening walks near his home in LA, listening to music, and keeping virtual connections with friends across the country as they each experience the crisis.

Interesting…
Revisado: 06-23-22
A year in the life of a dying nation… broken… selfish… and arrogant. No longer unified as one but fractured and disinteresting blaming the other. Charles Lennox does a good job at presenting what he didn’t set as his goal but accomplished it anyway.

Very Three Pinesy
Revisado: 09-11-21
While I have never known a real life Gamache personality there are attributes in characters which are more observable in real life while other characters that can only be defined through the shadow of their relationship to him. All that said the book had a montage of twist and turns making for an enjoyable read. As always, no book in the series is like another and yet each has the flavor of an old friend who comes with an amazing tale to share. This is no different so sit down for afternoon tea and through reading entering into the world of Three Pines and try to solve the unfolding mystery in your hands before there is another murder0!

Quickly becoming one of my all time favorites
Revisado: 07-09-21
Kate Quinn has a way with both characters and story that has caused her to become one if my all time favorite writers. She weaves history into tale as if it was almost biographical but with a story line and dialogue that sets it apart making the characters more intimate. Thanks Kate for a great tale!

What happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians? For Bruce Olson, it meant capture, disease, terror, loneliness, and torture. But what he discovered through trial and error has revolutionized the world of missions. Bruchko, which has sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide, has been called "more fantastic and harrowing than anything Hollywood could concoct."

Encouraging Demanding Hope
Revisado: 04-21-21
What an amazing (while true) story of faith and innocence. A young man who left everything he knew to follow Jesus to a place he had never been, uneducated in the ways of being a missionary... staying the course no matter what. In the course of staying on track he was attacked multiple times, initially hated by the rebels, the people and the government. A quiet, innocent faith led to hundreds of lives being touched and changed. I don’t want to give too much away but to encourage you to read what may change your life too.

Good Development of Plot and Charecters

Good overall character and story development. It took me awhile to figure out the movement through time and who fit with which years... but it made me reason out the processes.

A Perfect Christmas Beginning
Revisado: 12-14-20
This is a book for an idealist who believes out of the worst can good come but sees things as they are each step of the way. The imperfect can be the best while the “perfect” can be full of the hidden.
