This is one of those books that I often found myself sitting in my car long after reaching my destination just listening. I found it hard to tear myself away at certain parts because I wanted to listen more and see just how incredulous and ridiculous the main characters could get. My husband caught me angrily talking back to this book on more than one occasion. Certain characters get under your skin, which I imagine is exactly what the author intended. Yet I cheered on other characters and hoped for their success. The narrator does a great job switching between all the different accents and characters. Worth the credit.

Well written

This book was just so down to earth and real. Real struggles, real black characters. The authors is so descriptive and very purposeful in her word selection. She depicts the characters’ struggles and issues so beautifully yet in an objective way. Very well written.

Worth a credit

Simple yet very detailed and well thought out storyline. I didn’t know where it was going, but I like how the author connected all the dots and it all made sense in the end. Not a thriller, but it keeps you engaged and you want to finish it.

Actually enjoyed it

Like many others have said, most of the characters in this book are awful. There were points I had to turn off the radio in my car because a character was being so horribly infuriating, I thought I was going to start road raging. But in the end I found the resolution enjoyable. I’d love to see this as a movie.

Ok story

The storyline is ok and fairly predictable. My issue with this audiobook is the narrator. Within 30 seconds of listening to it, I wanted to stop it. Her voice is not right for this story. She sounded like a news anchor trying to tell a story. I eventually got used to it, but it was really hard in the beginning.

So many twists!

I did not see this coming!! An intriguing story of love, obsession, and psychosis, all blended together masterfully. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed

This book is definitely worth a listen. It had enough twists and turns that I didn’t see the end coming. I really should have, but the author casted enough doubt on all of the major characters that you really didn’t know which direction it was going. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

If you have a little bit of a freaky side but still enjoy a good story and a quick read, this is your book! I was listening to this book every spare minute I had. Cooking dinner, driving in the car, walking on the treadmill.
