Odd, disjointed narration

The overall story was entertaining but the female narrator was awful. The cadence did not make sense and was honestly hard to get thru.

WORST AUDIBLE RECORDING I HAVE EVER TRIED

I can't say much about the actual premise of the book because the recording of this title was so god awful that I could not finish it.
There is this weird echo tinny reverberation that makes it impossible to listen to.
Also, I usually enjoy this narrator but the "phone call filter" and whiney voice were just too much.


To top it off, audible won't let me return this title.

Slow Start but Fun Ride

I had some difficulty getting into the story and almost gave up but I am glad I stuck with it.
I really enjoyed and could relate to the inner dialogue and downward spirl.

Rarely do I find an audible book I can't finish

First off, I absolutely love this narrator. She did Stephen King's Sleeping Beauties and I have been hooked ever since.
This is my first time listening to a novel by this author though.
I still have about 2.5 hours left and I just can't push through it. Usually when I check to see how much time is left its because I can't believe its going to end but this time I was hoping it would.
I was intrigued by the premise and surprised in places but I just felt it dragged.
Not the novel for me, but to each their own.

The storyline was intriguing and I enjoyed getting to know the characters better.
The characters have depth and I want to see what happens next!
The narration was spot on but I just could not get over the amount of times "said" was used.
I am not a writer but I am an avid audiobook listener (150+ in my library) and it really took me out of the story when every conversation was described as "he said.. then I said... she said" .
This was just a personal annoyance/pet peeve and hopefully isn't a deterrent to future readers.
I plan to continue the series.

Amazing story with an amazing narrator

Holy Moly!
This story had me gripped from the beginning.
I don't know what to even say about this except listen to this! And this narrator should read every book ever and always.

Great book but not my favorite

I didn't think this narrator was the right fit for this book. Some of his pronunciations were off and I wasn't as excited about his Skink voice and enunciation as I have been in others.

I'm a Florida native, who lived in Broward during Hurricane Andrew, so I do appreciate the real world aspects that were brought in. Animals really did escape from the zoo!

All in all a good book.

There are no twists and turns, it is a very straightforward waste of time.

weird but in a good way

This was bizarre but I was definitely in to it.
I have lived in Florida my whole life and having such a close call with Dorian (cat 5+ hurricane) I was intrigued about this premise.

Some parts didn't quite make sense and I could not always tell if the storm was on going or had passed... but other than that, very fun.
