Historia
Why is Miami… Miami? What does the heartbreaking fate of the cheetah tell us about the way we raise our children? Why do Ivy League schools care so much about sports? What is the Magic Third, and what does it mean for racial harmony? In this provocative new work, Malcolm Gladwell returns to the subject of social epidemics and tipping points, this time with the aim of explaining the dark side of contagious phenomena. Through a series of gripping stories, Gladwell traces the rise of a new and troubling form of social engineering

other than this book was too short, I really enjoyed it. I can listen to him all day. Informative and entertaining!

I had no idea
Revisado: 07-24-24
Like most others, I read this since I am a "Seinfeld" fan but I also love "UHF". I didn't know diddly about Michael, but I love a good bio read by the author. I had no idea how deeply he feels and thinks, how spiritual his process of acting is. This isn't your typical "I grew up here, and we did this. Oh, here are some other anecdotes from other times" type of bio. This is poetry, not prose. Michael looks back on his life with candor and shows how literature and philosophy has and continues to shape his life. The tangents add wonderful imagery that made me feel like I was traveling along with him, the flow of his thoughts guiding me into my own meditations about life and what it means to be a creator of art.
"Enjoy it while it lasts!" I really did.

Historia
Why do men's testicles hang outside the body? Why does our appendix sometimes explode and kill us? And who does the Designer like better, anyway--us or squid? These and other questions are addressed in The Not-So-Intelligent Designer: Why Evolution Explains the Human Body and Intelligent Design Does Not. Dr. Abby Hafer argues that the human body has many faulty design features that would never have been the choice of an intelligent creator.

Interesting, but...
Revisado: 07-01-24
it gets extremely repetitive. You could take a drink every time you hear "BAD DESIGN" and be flat out drunk within the hour. It's too bad that lots of great information gets lost in overexplanation or is only touched upon so quickly that you wonder why it was included at all.

You'll laugh, you'll cry...
Revisado: 06-30-24
I went through the gamut of emotions while Griffin narrated his book. I've always liked him as an actor, and getting to hear the story of his eccentric childhood was fascinating. I also come from people that have a weirdly dark sense of humor so I could relate to the "well, we thought it was funny!" bits.

Story is a classic and just amazing, and the narrator did a fantastic job
Revisado: 03-22-24
Loved the voices for all the characters and the narrator had a great tone and expressiveness to his voice. The story itself did not disappoint! Worth a read!

Meh
Revisado: 06-24-23
I'm glad I used a credit to listen to this and not "real money" because I would want my money back, and who wants to go through that process?
It started interesting enough, I guess. It gets repetative with many attempts at navel gazing prose plopped in here and there, This tone overtakes the conclusion and is off-putting. I looked at how much longer i had until the end:"An HOUR and a HALF??? *groan!*" . I didn't care much for the god talk, either. But I'm a heathen, so take that as you will.
Spoilers: He falls in love with a lot of his co-stars and other famous women, and then he usually dumps them due to abandonment issues. The aforementioned abandonment issues are because Mommy didn't pay enough attention to him. His addictions aren't really his fault because something always happens to make him relapse several times. He makes having a colostomy bag sound like the worst thing that could happen to a person, though given what else could've happened to him, that should be the least of his health concerns. Really, he goes on and on about it.
Oh, and he has a LOT of money. But we already knew that.
I'm guessing if one is in recovery, they can relate to his story, so it might be worth a read. I found it pretty boring and hard to finish overall.
