perhaps Peace Talks & Battle Ground should have been combined as one. Before reading this book make sure you've read Peace Talks very recenly. Otherwise it will feel as if you've began this book in the middle of the story with a few important pieces missing.

I simply could not get into the book.

I listened to the book in it's entirety. In my opinion, a good book will pick up the reader and carry you to the end. This book did not. I've read other books by Kevin Hearne ( Iron Druid ) and found them to be quite engaging. However with this book I found myself very frequently trying to keep my head in the book & not just for background noise.

A disappointment.

The purchase of this book was a true disappointment. The narration was done well. I had always enjoyed the books written by Larry Correia, ie.... (Monster Hunter International/ Spellbound) were both excellent series. I just completed listening to Book 1, Saga of the Forgotten Warrior. When you listen to a good book, the story line will usually peak your interest and carry (sometimes march) your imagination through the peaks and valleys of the story. This book, upon completion, left me with an overall sense of "That's It"? What happened to the beginning and the middle of the book because all I was left with was the end. Book 1 is a redundant story of good vs evil with its primary motivation of setting up Book 2. Sorry Mr. Correia but you lost me on this one.

The story sneaks upon you, before you're aware the Audible immersion into the lives of the characters has swept you away. The narrator adds to the depth and enriches the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
After getting through the initial, " getting to know you phase," then yes.

Would you try another book from Edward W. Robertson and/or Tim Gerard Reynolds?
I'm really sorry. I was looking forward to a long captivative read. I truly tried to get into this book, but it completely dragged.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I feel sympathy for the narrator having to read this book. Tim Gerard Reynolds has a wonderful narrator voice.
