Then: Morning light shines into the nursery, casting shadows across the pale pink walls and wooden cot in the middle of the room. She opens the door expecting to hear the soft coo of her daughter, Sofia, stretching herself awake. But the room is silent. The cot is empty. Her little girl has vanished. Now: Twelve years have passed, but Emily will never forget the night her life changed forever, and she’s happy to have her daughter back beside her. A teenager now, Sofia started asking questions about when she was a baby.

Waste of time
Revisado: 03-20-25
Story is not what the title details indicate.
Main character weak.
Narrator is awful- sounds like she is reading a script the whole time.
I wish I had not wasted time listening to this.

Historia
Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy. Mallory immediately loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Great story, gripping and well told
Revisado: 02-18-25
Narrator is excellent. Really good story- kept me guessing the whole time. I gave it 5 stars because it was so good.
To the author: if you are going to choose a character from a Central European country with very unique language, then please, please, please do your research on spelling, pronunciation and accents. As someone from this country it was thoroughly cringy and disappointing that no effort was made to respect the language. There is no soft G in this language (eye roll).

Waste of time
Revisado: 01-23-25
I am not sure what that was, but it’s one of the worst books. I’ve listened to in a long time. The story is very hard to follow, don’t know what all those documents were with the weird buzzing noises, not sure what was real and what wasn’t? Overall, very bizarre, All over the place and nothing seemed to make sense. I hung in there, hoping it would get better, but just got worse.

Not popular opinion
Revisado: 09-25-24
This book is OK. The performance is excellent, one of the best narrators I’ve heard. She actually sounds like the age of the character. The story is good, somewhat predictable - the mushy, sappy love story that is so unreal was a bit much. Male teenage character is unrealistically sensitive and emotional, it was just too much. I found myself gagging several times.
You know what you’re getting with Colleen Hoover, not a great writer, traumatic stories, but predictable. Beach read at best, nothing spectacular.

Way too long and boring
Revisado: 09-10-24
Story is good. Too many characters, way way, way too long, too many details of every characters backstory. The best part was at hour 18 when the story all finally comes together.. It did not need 18 hours to get to that point. Truly tedious. Narrator is OK, often has very monotone whispering Voice and her depiction of the older characters is ridiculous. 18 hours of my life I will not get back.

It’s the opening night of The Manor, the newest and hottest luxury resort, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.

Just………weird. Narrators good but not age appropriate. Owen was supposed to be the youngest of the bunch and he sounded like an old man. Story was just stupid and hard to follow . Birds??? Humans as birds??? I don’t get it.

Starts slow but then does not disappoint
Revisado: 08-08-24
Story is good- unexpected twist about 3/4 way through that got me re-interested, despite the beginning being quite boring.
Narrator is Way. Too. Over……..Dramatic. Stressing words like she’s is a Shakespearean play.
Also the male voice sounds like a creepy old man and should have been younger. Character development- one character is initially made to seem like an old hermit and really isn’t.
Anniversary touch was clever. Overall it was better as it developed.

Not great.
Revisado: 08-03-24
The narrator was the only thing that made me stick with this book. Story is dumb. I could not get past the fact that 2 educated individuals were carrying on a lurid love affair and documenting everything in email. EMAIL????? Who does this???? So stupid. Main character is very annoying. Why not leave an abusive relationship rather than plot out revenge???

Read the book, do not listen to this audiobook. Worst narrator I ever ever heard
Revisado: 06-20-24
I read the first two books and decided to listen to the audiobook for this third one. I don’t know if I will get through it, I’d rather purchase the book and read it because this narrator is so bad. She has the worst New York accent, the worst, dramatic inflections, and she sounds like she’s a 65 yr-old, not a 40-year-old, as the main character is. I had an image in my head of Millie from the first two books that I read, and this is so far off from her character that I don’t think I can finish listening. Do yourself a favor and read the book instead, because this is cringe worthy.

Great concept for love story but lacking
Revisado: 03-14-24
Narrator- would have been good if she didn’t sound like she was reading it to a kindergarten class. Does not sound natural at all.
Characters- predictable, insecure.
Story- ok. The idea is cute and the intro is very good but then it goes downhill from there.
Annoying- for a girl so insecure about her weight, she sure does eat a lot of tacos and donuts. Always hungry.
Annoying- how they talk to each other. No one actually talks like that, do they??
Annoying- the constant demand for prophylaxis.
Overall- this could have been so much better. Sometimes boring. I missed lots of parts because I zoned out. Don’t waste your time.
