Historia
It's 1634 and Samuel Pipps, the world's greatest detective, is being transported to Amsterdam to be executed for a crime he may, or may not, have committed. Traveling with him is his loyal bodyguard, Arent Hayes, who is determined to prove his friend innocent. But no sooner are they out to sea than devilry begins to blight the voyage. A twice-dead leper stalks the decks. Strange symbols appear on the sails. Livestock is slaughtered. And then three passengers are marked for death, including Samuel. Could a demon be responsible for their misfortunes?

Ridiculous nonsense from the beginning to the end. I kept thinking it must have something better coming as it was highly recommended. Like a fly in a spider web but the spider has been eaten.

Flann O'Brien's most popular and surrealistic novel concerns an imaginary, hellish village police force and a local murder.
Weird, satirical, and very funny, its popularity has suddenly increased with the mention of the novel in the TV series Lost.

So I queried GPTChat " Weird audible books" got 4 suggestions. Didn't look all that weird. Added new query "weirder." So arrived "The Third Policeman." Totally captivating as read! Jim Norton may have done the perfect job of conveying each character. Each syllable is a symphony dedicated to the soul. 7 hours of enjoyable nonsense.

Weird
Revisado: 02-12-23
Well, what can I say, searched weird books and this was one of the many which were suggested. I was startled at how I related to the mannerisms and internal dialogues of the stories protagonists, meaning they seemed "normal". I can see myself drawing some of the same connections and analogies in non similar situations. I hope there are NO similar real world situations anyway. I enjoyed some stories better than others but was not bored by any. Enjoyable!

Revisado: 10-12-21
I tried to like this series 2.5 of 4 complete I simply couldn’t take it any longer. Too much talk and sanctimonious preaching interspersed with obvious wannabeism.

History will be ignored
Revisado: 02-19-21
The fact that some people are driven to animalistic behavior to survive and some to prosper is clear. Bright lights of humanity sparked by personal integrity and spirituality appeared within the oppressed but were seemingly nowhere to be found in those nothing but afraid of the possible consequences. Remember regardless of our station in life we all have the possibility of becoming a character in this real life tragedy.

The book was exactly what I expected by Vonnegut, thought provoking and strangely relevant to 2020. Christian Rummel was outstanding. His reading was masterful, perfect pace and character rendition. I will be searching for his narrations as well as authors of interest.

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.
