Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes. It's a story that I didn't want to stop listening to. If it were 20hours long somehow, I would have kept listening in rapt attention.
If you’ve listened to books by John Leslie and Carey Winfrey before, how does this one compare?
N/A
What aspect of David Wood’s performance would you have changed?
He made the vise president sound a little too weisely
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
With some adaptations, I feel that this movie could be on the big screen. I would see it yes.

Historia
Some days are brighter than others, but Penelope Finnel has been taught she can be invisible behind the colored lenses of her heart-shaped sunglasses. Her mind is her worst enemy, and simply waking up in the morning is risky. For a kid like her, staying in bed is easier, especially when the day has come to start school in a new town with new kids who don’t understand that the clouds are not the only reason everything is so gloomy.

Not my typical cup, but it went down smooth...

Any additional comments?
Like I said, this kind of story (love stories) aren't what I'm interested in. I'm usually into the detective, or spy, or even science fiction to fantasy genres. Love stories? No. Something about this book just caught my attention. Maybe it was that it was being portrayed in a more realistic light, I don't know. This was a cute story. It took me through the gantlet of emotions. I felt longing, pride, sadness, anger, betrayal, and um..."happy." Mary Elizabeth knows how to pull the right emotion at the right time. My only con is this...five epilogs? Really? That was a distraction near the end that kind of disentangled me from the web a little before things wrapped up. Two I understand from the back and forth the story did naturally. Hayes' performance was nearly perfect at allowing us to realize the characters.

I loved this book

Any additional comments?
I didn't want to stop listening to this book, it held me till the very end. It was funny, intriguing, witty and an overall good read. I wasn't sure about how Bible was going to blend the obvious silliness of some of the characters with the overall seriousness of the plot, but it worked. I would buy subsequent books to listen to. Wehrlen was able to capture the essence of the characters and really brought them to life. I would listen to another book narrated by Wehrlen.

Great story. Interesting twists.
Revisado: 08-30-16
What made the experience of listening to The Purification the most enjoyable?
The author was able to get me to be invested in the characters and made me concerned about how they were going to accomplish their mission.
Any additional comments?
The narrator has an interesting delivery for all of the narration parts of the book. It's almost as if he was under duress throughout the entire book which in turn made it very distracting. Also, the narrator mispronounced a lot of words like chasm. I can't believe the director didn't catch the blunders. I liked adairs work, but the narrator turns me off. I might just get adairs kindle books and check them out.

rough start, mild finish
Revisado: 08-24-16
Would you try another book from Jay Tinsiano and/or Chris MacDonnell?
I would consider another book by Jay Tinsiano, but I don't feel that Chris MacDonnell really brought out the strengths of the characters.
Any additional comments?
I thought that the concepts in this book were good, the plot was well executed, but the story and narration was missing something. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Slow start, great finish!
Revisado: 08-16-16
If you could sum up December Boys in three words, what would they be?
intriguing, suspenseful, realistic characters.
Any additional comments?
To be honest, I listened to the first three chapters and stopped listening for a time. I went to write a review to the effect that its not worth finishing, but since I got this book free and agreed to write a review, I felt obligated to finish it. Im glad that I did because I really stopped at the turning point in the story. It picked up and got better and better. It was a little vulgar for my tastes, but I find myself consider Joe's other work. I would suggest that you read this book.
