I very much enjoyed this book. I've read Dr. Gundry's entire series and I try and eat based on knowledge I've learned since reading and listening to his books. This was almost a nice diversion from previous books in that he's talking about your energy levels and why you get cycles during the day for motivation. You don't have to have read his previous books to understand what's being discussed. Dr. Gundry does assume you're familiar with his dietary recommendations and I would recommend reading his previous books starting with the Plant Paradox for background... but it's not needed here especially with the added PDF that helps fill in the holes of any food narrative you don't understand. Besides, Dr. Gundry goes beyond that in trying to get you more informed as to why certain foods effect your energy.

There is a slight connection to his previous books and Dr. Gundry does bring up familiar topics if you are familiar with his discussions but I was pleasantly surprised to hear more about the roles mitochondria play with us and insulin resistance better explained... etc... rather than be inundated with lectin information. If you're a Dr. Gundry fan, you likely understand and heard enough about lectins already.

One thing I liked... was that at times Dr. Gundry does get a bit technical on WHY these things happen within your energy cycles and it's explained rather than "just take my word for it". I think some readers are sometimes turned off by the listing of hormones or chemicals that are words we'll probably never use ourselves in any setting.. and contributes to the misunderstanding of Dr. Gundry's eating recommendations or bores the reader. However; when it's explained in detail, I understand better WHY my body feels the way it does and it helps me make better dietary choices. Dr. Gundry doesn't dive into terminology too much here in the book, so I don't want to scare anyone... but I was glad when he did. Not too mention, getting technical narrows conversation for those that disagree with Dr. Gundry's recommendations instead of being able to waive off the entire lifestyle.

There is the familiar additional PDF with summaries, ingredients, and recipes. The book was well narrated by the author himself. Excellent addition to the Dr. Gundry series of books.

I'm a fan of space exploration so it was a no brainer getting this title when it showed up as an Audible Original. I was skeptical that I'd enjoy it as much as I did. The title is part story line... part original recordings of old air force and NASA... and part dramatized portions that have become an "Audible Original" norm. I found it to be more of a podcast than a book but still enjoyed it.

I do feel you're given a full narrative here. The book does take you from von Braun and the V2 rockets to modern day SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Virgin. It takes you through America's space programs as well as noting Russia, China, and Indian programs and projects. They probably could have delved into each subject more but a good overview is given no matter what they're talking about. As I said before, I'm a fan of space exploration so I know a bit of the subjects discussed and I'm sure delving in as deep as I'm inferring here would extend the book hours.

Great listen and definitely recommended for fans and those interested in our race to space. However; do so being forewarned that the format here is "podcast-like" with there is some jumping around from recording to story line to dramatized segments.

Excellent book for marketing content

So I picked up Joe's other book "Content Inc." previous to this one. I liked the other book so much that I figured I'd see what else Joe had and I grabbed this book. I know it's cliche to say this but "I'm glad I did".

Joe definitely understands the subject of marketing content and illustrates his expertise in this book. This being my second book from Joe now,.. I'd like to think I know a little bit as well. I've already had to refer back to a few things he covered here so it's already been worth it for me. If you've already read his other book as I have, then you'll notice some reoccurring subjects and perhaps a story or two will ring a "deja vu" bell for you. He is talking about the same subject matter... so expect it. This book definitely has it's own flavor so don't let that deter you.

Joe talks about discovering your niche and becoming the best in your niche market with an approach through social media as well as a number of different content mediums to give you a series of options for distributing your content. He shows you how to implement a plan to measure your effectiveness and how to analyze your gains and losses.

Recommended for anyone looking to market content in today's world. Tons of references to refer to outside this book with real world examples of strategies and techniques along with practical advice and solid information.

With all that said... if you've read marketing books before... the formula of building a mailing list and regularly releasing your own high quality content consistently will sound familiar. Good place to start if you're looking to tackle the subject but it shouldn't be your last stop either. Enjoyed listening to the book and will be referring back.

Decent narration of a classic. I bought so I could just hear the classic read aloud. This narration is not dramatized at all.

To summarize without ruining the book... A story of in old country town where two men compete for a woman. An older tale of a headless horseman (Hessian soldier who's head was shot off by a cannon ball)... becomes a major factor in one of the men disappearing by the end of the story. My own interpretation has the prankster scaring off his opponent, never to be seen again.

Recommended if you just want to hear the story.

Not sure if those three things go together but it seems the best way to describe this listen. Not too long... and basically its several stories of Adam's life as told by himself. At times you'll laugh out loud and other times it warms your heart as told with a faint self deprecating style. It does contain some mature subjects and some salty language... so it is an unfiltered account. I enjoyed listening to Adam's stories and would likely pick up his next one. It's short enough to not get bored but its still a length to say "over already?!"

If you're into short listens that are slightly comical without trying to be stand up comedy then you should enjoy this.

Anyone who believes they've got the full story on political headlines by just watching their favorite news source on television or their latest online news feed... is kidding themselves. If you're at all interested in what's going on in Washington at any given moment, then you have to listen to both sides of the story and draw your own position from ALL the facts with the entire narrative from all sides. All with the understanding that there is a slant and biased agenda from most news sources.

Audible has made this impeachment report available to their listeners so that more people may understand what's going on in our government today in an effort to achieve a more informed republic. I applaud their efforts here.

While it's long... and at times drone like in it's narration... both democrats and republicans have their say in this report. There's a proponent side and an opponent side to listen to. There's multiple narrators and I believe the whole thing was well done.

I would recommend to anyone who will be voting in the next election in 2020 and anyone who wants to understand this impeachment proceeding a bit better. This is not a news story. This is not a one sided narrative, as both sides have their say and interpretations here. It is an account of the actions and behavior of our president that became an inquiry in the House of Representatives that eventually was voted upon for impeachment.

Kudos to Rich Roll for pulling himself through his trials and tribulations. An ivy league swimmer that becomes an alcoholic in college turns his life around to eventually have a happy family and become an endurance athlete is a good story. Having reached the end of the book, I can truly say it was an inspiring book.

That being said, I felt the book was more of a memoir than I thought it would be. A good portion of the book is his life before he turned everything around. You're then hearing how Rich Roll found "Ultra". This isn't an instructional guide on how everyone can obtain "Ultra"... although anyone should be able to pull inspiration and be guided toward betterment from his story. Rich seems to have many opportunities along with a supporting family and clique of friends along the way that may be hard coming for others. Being an entertainment lawyer doesn't hurt when it comes to getting the bills paid as well. The book gets a little preachy when it comes to becoming a vegan and the book can be a little self serving in a way that has Rich bringing up his podcast and his "Plant Power" diet. Nevertheless; it is his story and his book.... you have to expect a little self serving jargon in there somewhere.

However; I enjoyed the book and learned a lot about endurance training including how important focus and meditation is to the whole ordeal. The food lifestyle changes is something I'm sure many people can relate to as he moves from junk food to being a full fledged vegan.

All in a all it was a good listen... and well narrated by the author himself.

Science and absurdity combined

This was kind of a fun listen. It's an entire book devoted to absurd hypothetical questions usually submitted to the author through his cartoon website XKCD or simply written into him through his blog. His answers are derived from various math equations, old military documents, and computer simulations of physics scenarios.

There's a certain amount of humor from the absurdity of the question and the serious scientific approach used to get the answer. As a former employee of NASA, Randall Munroe tackles subjects in a scientific way that not only highlights the absurdity of the question but does so in a way that can be taken seriously with all the math to back up his answer.

Questions like... what would happen if you made a periodic table built of bricks from its corresponding element? What would happen if you hit a baseball that was traveling near the speed of light? When will the bandwidth of the internet ever surpass that of FedEx... if ever? Can the recoil thrust from a machine gun be used as a jetpack?

The book touched my nerdy side and each question became something I was very curious about and interested in how such an answer would be calculated. The book can be read in short little segments as it is broken up by the questions. The book should bring a smile to your face if not outright LOL.

I thought the book was well-written and this audiobook is well narrated by Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher).

Probably the best thing I got from the book was seeing the human side of popular chefs. The holiday traditions that they keep and enjoy around the holidays was warming and entertaining. Usually the chefs you see on TV are so scripted and rehearsed that you lose the quality that makes them people too.

The format of the book almost comes off as a podcast or a bunch of interviews that have been collected and joined together in one recording. At times it seems the whole thing is rough around the edges but it doesn't take away from the entire project in my opinion.

Make sure you download the included PDF with the recipes that are talked about for a better enjoyment of the whole project.

More to the book than just the plot

Revisado: 12-21-19

Typical Kurt Vonnegut. The plot of the story is just hiding the real meaning of the book. Kurt mocks societies, religions, and man himself through a narrative that walks you through a fantastical laden plot.

The plot is generally a fictional story about a man who is going to write a book about the father of the atomic bomb (Felix Hoenicker). This story takes the author on a journey that visits Felix's family... then to a fictional island called San Lorenzo where he becomes president of the country. He learns of a secret element called Ice-9 that turns moisture into hard rock ice. This part of the story carries a sort of subplot but generally keeps in step with the overall narrative.

The island has dropped religion in the form of a new faith called Bokononism. This new way of thinking actually mocks religion in almost any form in such a way that it becomes its own religion. This all weaves a story that ties everything together.

Kurt Vonnegut fans will notice the common thread that connects all of Kurt vonnegut's books in his style of writing. In that there's alternative thinking to what's written on the page other than the obvious.

A well written classic. The narration was okay. However, I don't feel anyone reads Kurt Vonnegut the way I read his stories and it can be off putting having read the story a few times and now you're hearing someone else's interpretation of the reading. Not enough to detract from the story but enough for me to notice.

Recommended for those that want to test the waters with Kurt Vonnegut stories. Kurt Vonnegut fans will not need convincing to listen to this story but may have an issue with narration.
