So sweet and funny and deeper than I expected. Great performances all around! I really loved the performance from Santino Fontana.

This story had me feeling REAL feelings about fictional people and events. Poor husband had to listen to me rage on more than one occasion. I am ready to start on the next book and see how Feyre's little bargain plays out. Not gonna lie, I need more Rhysand. I'm fascinated by his character, the things he's done that seem so very evil, but also the kind things he's done. I need the revelation of why and I need to see things from HIS point of view. I love not knowing his true motivations. I feel like everything he does LOOKS very self-serving, but isn't really...? He's snarky and a little wicked and I'm ready for more.

The dialogue is so clever, the love story organic and not forced, the hard stuff handled perfectly, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at a scene in a book before (iykyk)
There were times I had to walk away and give it a few days because I knew there were difficult things coming, and I had to prepare myself for them. That is how invested I got in these characters. I know there is a spinoff of sorts and I’m gonna have to go find it now. Delightful.

This was an outstanding listen, I loved Rebecca Soler’s narration. I cried when she cried, my heart raced with her, my anger flared with hers. I can’t think of the last book I was as emotionally invested in! Loved this immensely.

The narration, with some of the best that I have heard so far. There were scenes where I was feeling exactly what the character was feeling. I enjoyed the characters voice the way it was written by the author. It was a decent enough story. I will read more by this author I’m sure, and I will probably listen to anything. Steven Weber narrates.

As always, listening to Shane East as a narrator is delicious and Andi Arndt's performance was very well done.

The sex scenes were great, but I kind of felt like the story fell a little flat. I have adored other books by this author and will likely listen to or read them again - The Virgin Next Door and My So-Called Sex Life felt like great stories with likeable characters that ALSO had searing sex scenes in them (the first flower-shop scene in TVND lives in my head rent-free.) This one felt more like a series of sex scenes with a story kind of worked through to connect them into a book.
Still enjoyed it, just not as much as other Lauren Blakely books I've read.

It was almost funny that as the story went on there were things that I was surprised at, that didn't feel appropriate in today's day and age. Then I realized that this book was originally released in 1986.

I love Nora Roberts's writing, always have, and this was no exception. There were some things that didn't age well but, all in all, it was still a suspenseful, romantic story told extremely well.

It took me all of about 5 chapters to fall in love with Charlie Lastra. One of my favorite love interest tropes is the gumpy curmudgeon who is actually very sensitive and funny. Emily Henry did such a masterful job of balancing so many storylines/relationships and making it all work. I look forward to reading more of her books.

There were things that irritated me (like, I don't think Charlie ever spoke in a normal voice? It was always low and quiet and stupid sexy) and Nora's relationship with her sister was odd to me. Were they not grown ups? Wasn't Libby married with her own children and yet her sister still treated her like a child - and she allowed her to? It seemed very co-dependent to me and there were some unreasonable overreactions that made me roll my eyes.

All-in-all I loved it and found it very funny and sexy and romantic.

I love these characters. I love the magic, the intrigue, the romance, the danger. I am 100% a fan of S.A. Chakraborty and the world of Daevabad. Soneela Nankani is just perfection and is the reason I listen to audio books at all. I started out with City of Brass as a book club read (listen) and she hooked me immediately. Of course, the writing is stellar and the characters are all so complex. Everyone is flawed but striving to do better and I think that's one of the most beautiful parts of Chakraborty's writing.
Fan for life.

I’m giving this more like 3 1/2 stars instead of just three or four.
It didn’t take long for me to become obsessed with this whodunnit- I stayed up late and got up early to finish it because I HAD to know. There were things I didn’t care for in the story and the writing, and there was a lot of suspension of disbelief, but overall, very well done!
