I know the description warns that it is like Cinderella, but the first chapter is almost word for word the same story in addition to the ending. Disney should likely sue. Additionally, the plot is faulty and leaves you knowing what the ending will be the entire time, which is probably why many say the book is boring. You want to scream why someone wouldn’t ask why another person would jump into fire for a book. The plot is that flawed and obvious. Lastly, while I like the characters… the main male character does so much mansplaining that it is almost painful at times. This was the author’s opportunity to give the female the lead and the power and she dramatically fails in doing so. However, it is still an interesting read and I have read worse. If you like the Married to Magic books, you might as well read this too. The only thing that saves it is the narrator, Elizabeth Evans. She is so good I’ll read anything of hers and she can make anything tolerable.

Elizabeth Evans is one of my favorite narrators and I purchased these books solely because of her but also enjoy having a story I can conclude in one book. While I think there is a lot more that could be explored in these stories that they can almost seem anticlimactic I still have enjoyed them & would recommend the Married to Magic universe to others!
