why, Joel? why?!

I'm so used to the other things by Joel Thielke that I was expecting something here that there was not. These are just sounds. Or it's extremely subliminal to the point that I can literally only hear sounds, like fire, water, wind... 0/10 would not recommend. sorry!

A lot of talk therapy seems to require buying in to established concepts like development or approach. For me, this runs on the same thing. It works, but also if you let it. Thielke has more or less the same introduction for all of these hypnosis sleep guides, so it definitely helps you get to sleep. He gives just enough guided imagery for your brain to be able to fill in the gaps. It encourages sleep because every second he's telling you to feel lighter and all that stuff. It's very helpful for falling asleep.

I think the main topic does get worked on as well. Sometimes I can't sleep, like my brain is still in ADHD world and it can't shut off. This means I'm awake and listening to what he has to offer about the break up, and it does end up being something I've never thought about so even consciously it has had an effect, and being reminded of that night after night sort of drills it in there even if I'm not. the subconscious is always listening and doesn't always tell us what it's thinking. So it makes sense to deceiver the messages to it because it's the one driving these sad memories or clinging to attachments. this morning I woke up and thought a little less about it and felt a little less sad. Part because it works, and a smaller little part because I wanted it to work. But again, that's even in therapy.

yall, this was so good. the story is, obviously, amazeballs, but also the guy reading it has such well defined voices for each character. It was really good.

it's short enough, not boring, and not one full of useless examples. they're all relevant. there is science behind it, and it seems attainable.

Apparently I am not as big a Trekkie as I thought. I blinded myself like Oedipus to any allusions to them being interested in each other. Gross.

Then there's the first person narrative. It could be an amazing story but I'm also not interested in hearing life through the eyes of someone who talks about a woman as being a tease. There's no way I'm sticking around to read he gets what he wants.

How do you even make sex scenes boring?

Someone can make sappy romance and actually write it well. It doesn't happen in this book, but it is possible.

There is a lady who is married, and the most interesting thing about her is that she sleeps around. The way she speaks you'd think she's someone worth caring about. It's only because she never has anything good to say and she leaves people feeling like they owe it to themselves to give her something good to say. Of course none knows she's just not capable.

Some slightly younger guy starts sleeping with her and yearns for her love. He is the most boring character ever written, maybe everyone has delusions of grandeur but we don't all get tricked into reading their diaries. He becomes just as hitter and still more pretentious than the lady he loves. His friends decide to get his diaries published and they're so boring they cut them down by two thirds.

Then one of the other ladies he slept with, who ended up having his kid, decided to get in on the action and remix. She married three times and never to the guy. She wanted to be just like the first lady, she thought she was. and she was also so boring about it.

They're all boring and pretentious. I'm sure I missed some kind of weird depth because maybe I'm boring and pretentious too.

I wish that she had put more time into it. She accomplished so much. She helped organize these huge events, careers, businesses. But that's all you get. I wish that she was willing to be more insightful about how she was internally able to accomplish these goals. We hear the life story in terms of events but I was really interested to hear about how she saw her life, why she made the choice she did. She was a small Asian woman? That's all?
