Historia
Katherine Williams's family was left destitute when their home was burned to the ground by Yankee soldiers, so the ready solution presented by the prominent Mr. Josiah Richardson seems almost too good to believe. He'll provide a home, work for her pa, and a new beginning for her family . . . if only Katherine will accept his proposal. A marriage of convenience is the last thing she wants, but there doesn't seem to be a better option for her family or herself. Setting aside her dreams of love, Katherine agrees to the arrangement.

Refreshing page turner by Blossom TURNER!
Revisado: 10-12-23
Thrilled to come across this lovely tale of being yourself and trying to stay true to your convictions. Refreshing because there is no smut warning needed although characters are not without fault. Can’t believe how many twists and turns this story had. It is a page TURNER! Loved the narrators accents. It helped keep characters distinguished in my mind.

Belly laughs
Revisado: 01-28-22
Feels good to get some good laughs in these days and you will easily do that with all the funny characters and shenanigans going on in this book poking fun at the social elite. I love the voices the reader uses for the characters especially the nasally Betsy and the main character’s daughter’s sweet voice. Put your earbuds in and enjoy!

Historia
Elisabeth Elliot was a young missionary in Ecuador when members of a violent Amazonian tribe savagely speared her husband, Jim, and his four colleagues. Incredibly, prayerfully, Elisabeth took her toddler daughter, snakebite kit, Bible, and journal...and lived in the jungle with the stone-age people who killed her husband. In this authorized biography, Ellen Vaughn uses Elisabeth’s private, unpublished journals, and candid interviews with her family and friends, to paint the adventures and misadventures God used to shape one of the most influential women in modern church history.

Refreshingly honest
Revisado: 12-10-20
It is so refreshing to listen to an honest rendition of a life story instead of a pedestal placing accounting. The coming of age, relationship, and career struggles were engrossing. It was overall a very encouraging book as it reminded me that I don’t have to be perfect or famous to be loved and used by God. The narrator’s ability to convey emotion made me feel like I was in the room with Elizabeth while she was telling me about her day or listening to her say the words as she was writing them in her diary. Will seek out both the author and narrator in the future.

Page turner, great characters, and great narration
Revisado: 12-21-19
You won’t be able to predict what happens in this page turner. Some will love it for this reason and others will love it for the reason I did: the characters!Boy were there some characters! Some were easy to love and some were easy to hate. The actress narrating the book really brought the characters to life and her voices made it easier to distinguish between them.

Historia
Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.

Don't bother
Revisado: 02-17-18
Far fetched, political and immature. I will never read a Grisham again. 1/3 of the book is about an illegal immigrant family that you never get to know that is deported. There is a character that has a competition with her roommates to see who can have the most one night stands. (Thankfully no details) just don't bother. I have one more hour left to listen to and I can't even...kept thinking that somehow the book would redeem itself....nope.

Historia
When his mother passed away at the age of 78, Sherman Alexie responded the only way he knew how: He wrote. The result is this stunning memoir. Featuring 78 poems and 78 essays, Alexie shares raw, angry, funny, profane, tender memories of a childhood few can imagine - growing up dirt poor on an Indian reservation, one of four children raised by alcoholic parents. Throughout, a portrait emerges of his mother as a beautiful, mercurial, abusive, intelligent, complicated woman.

Cannot finish
Revisado: 07-19-17
Long, boring, depressing, political. This book is difficult to bear and not just because of the authors abusive past. This is the first audible book I cannot finish and I am more than halfway through it. Lots of poetry reading. Lots of " if you voted for Trump you voted against me" tirades. His life story IS interesting but the book would be much better if written through a individual survivor overcomer lens rather than a hopeless group victim lens. If you still must lister, speed it up to 1.25 at least.
