Historia
The most popular and beloved American historical novel ever written, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is unparalleled in its portrayal of men and women at once larger than life but as real as ourselves. Now best-selling writer Alexandra Ripley brings us back to Tara and reintroduces us to the characters we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy, Suellen, Aunt Pittypat, and, of course, Scarlett.

Beautiful story with gut wrenching moments
Revisado: 02-05-19
This book is fabulous! I listened with eyes open and at times I think it was the closest I have ever come to "being there".
Being a Louisiana native myself, the adjectives used to describe even the most insignificant things brought back memories and smells, comparable to real life. Superb!! There was only one part of the book I had to fast forward through, as I could not bare to hear it. That is just me though, so some readers may not find it as horrible. You will know it when you get there....
If you like highly descriptive writing and a great story, this is a book you will enjoy. (I love that there were no mispronounced words used by Louisiana people on a daily basis, that were included in this book; Many books I listen to containing the most basic southern vernacular are horribly mispronounced by the narrator-Cherise Boothe was perfect!!)

Banned in America for almost 30 years because of its explicit sexual content, this companion volume to Miller's Tropic of Cancer chronicles his life in 1920s New York City. Famous for its frank portrayal of life in Brooklyn's ethnic neighborhoods and Miller's outrageous sexual expolits, Tropic of Capricorn is now considered a cornerstone of modern literature.

adjective overload.....
Revisado: 10-02-18
I am only 1 hour into listening,...Campbell Scott is the only saving grace for these nonstop, everlasting, repetitive, run on sentences just exploding with mundane adjectives that are comprising this book. At this point, I hope the Jewish guy eats the new guy just to be over it!
Right now I am thinking Henry Miller must have been drunk or bored. Maybe he will run out of words...unless it gets better, don't waste your money! Will update if it is redeemable.

Revisado: 08-23-18
I am embarrassed to say that I had never read(listened) to Gone with The Wind...had only seen bits and pieces of the movie, but being a southern girl...it is a shame it took me 40 years to get around to it...
The book is read beautifully...the characters just come to life in my mind. Don't "think about it tomorrow"...get this book and be ready to wish you were Scarlett or best friends with her...Queen of the Classics-Margaret Mitchell is a superb author. The narrator is superb....

Historia
The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family’s tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

You are a boring legend but you grew on me.
Revisado: 02-16-18
This book starts off slowly and boring....in my opinion. I am not a giant fan of zombies and doom so maybe that is why my opinion is as such. Once I figured out what was going on in the book, it took off pretty well...the main character made me want to punch him sometimes and say "MAKE A DECISION MAN!!" Towards the end, the pleasant surprise is just that...I won't tell. I will say that I received this book as a free giveaway and that is the only reason I would have ever read it. No jab at the author-just not my cup of tea.

I will never forget your name!
Revisado: 02-16-18
This book is incredibly wonderful...
It covers all aspects of the character's life form childhood to the end. The descriptive eloquence is a time travel machine so to speak...you can see the greens, you can smell the sweat and the cold makes you shiver. There was never a lull in the story and I found myself missing her after I finished the book. This is how I know I loved a book...
Take a chance and get this book!
