Great story with lots of twists and turns to keep your guessing along the way. Excellent performance and sound production. Can’t wait to start the next one.

This book got recommended to me a few times by Audible's algorithm. I finally decided to pick it up as part of a sale. Big swing and a miss, Audible. I got about a half hour into this book before I called it quits. Maybe it gets better and maybe the funny parts come later but I won't find out. I couldn't stomach one more whiney and cringe inducing anecdote.

I wanted to like this book. I love books written by comedians, especially when they talk about their life and how they found their path in blending the tragic into the comedic. Matt Bellassai seems incapable of doing this. Instead, he just sounds like that one coworker or friend you know that complains about everything, seeking validation and affirmation for their existence.

Shout out to Lindsey Kilbride and Abukar Adan for absolutely killing the production of this podcast. The story was immersive and Sean Flynn crafted and engaging narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Wish there was more and look forward to more content from all involved.

More About Comey than Current Political Chaos

I preordered this book and it lived up to all my expectations. That being said, I had expected this book to be more of a smoking gun on the Trump presidency. Instead, what I found was a great memoir by James Comey that served to not only shed some (albeit less than I assumed) light on the current administration but also educate about some important political personalities. If you are looking for more of an indictment on Trump (ala Fire and Fury) then you won't find it here. But you will find some reassurance in our government along with the knowledge that there are still genuine heroes still in Washington DC that want to see America handled with respect. Great book that is narrated (surprisingly) beautifully by James Comey.

This book is for anyone that has ever failed, which means it is pretty much for anyone. It is an attempted memoir from the titular voice of the television series Archer and if you enjoy that brand of comedy then you will love this audiobook. Benjamin shares anecdotes form his life along with some personal wisdom and life philosophies that are interesting and humorous. He also peppers in some bits and goofs that are unrelated to the book in general to spice things up. For example, he has a whole bit about failed presidential pets that is a real treat. After reading this book, you will come away feeling more successful and prepared with a different perspective on the potential positives of future failures.

This is my first introduction into Brian Greene, and he has proven to be a glorious treat. His work is easy to understand and listen to, while also being vigorously entertaining. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys science or simply just wants to learn something new and enriching about the subject matter.

What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Frank Muller is a great narrator that helps to accurately capture the tone and sentiment of what Erich Maria Remarque is trying to convey with his words.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book was hard for me to binge on. It's well written and entertaining, but the subject matter makes for some thick listening. The book definitely sparks a sense of resentment for war and nostalgia for some of the other anti-war books of the same era. Well recommended.

Any additional comments?

I picked up this book after I heard, then only Presidential Candidate, Donald Trump, boast about reading it in various interviews. There is literally no way that he read this book. And if he did read it, he clearly didn't understand the the book's message or tone. #Sad.

What did you like best about Patient Zero? What did you like least?

Patient Zero was my first introduction to Jonathan Mayberry. I heard heard his name in reading circles before and decided to give him a try. Mostly he had been touted as a "fluff read" with a little extra in between pages. I would consider this to be true, from this experience. This book is somewhat of a throw-away in terms of literature. It's well done. But NOTHING from this book will have you looking back on it fondly or looking into further. It's largely forgettable. That being said, you won't feel like you're wasting your time reading it.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story has a few twists and turns, after all, a good number of books do. You'll stay engaged if you're into the whole zombie scene. But make no mistake, this isn't a thriller, and to even suggest this book was cerebral or intellectually stimulating would be a laughable offence.

Any additional comments?

The most disappointing aspect of this book is that thinly veiled racism involved. The book follows some dishearteningly cliche tropes when it comes to terrorism and what it means to be American. This won't be a good read for some people who have read some of the classics in zombie fiction. Nor will it be an enjoyable read for some people who are looking for something other than background noise. Worthy of the time and money for the listen. But not worth much more than that.

This is the type of book that is so enjoyable that you WANT to tell other people about it. The premise is slightly strange and hard to explain, but the concept is so titillating and well executed that you'll find yourself recommending this title to your friends.

At its crux, Simsion has written a book that is easy to relate to although his main character may not be. Ideas and concepts in this book are woven with entertaining dexterity and what seems like fun pondering at first actually builds into prosperous insight.

Stephen King is a master of mood

Stephen King has a knack for creating the right mood and tone around his characters and situations. And in this book he masterfully follows through on that gift. King has created an amazing world centered around a very promising concept. This book was great albeit not perfect. While King is fantastic at what he does, I always am left wanting a little more when reading his books. And he delivers this time somewhat (keyword is somewhat) with an impassioned ending that waxes poetic. But I can't help but shake the feeling that my thirst isn't quenched yet. Lucky for me, however, I have more books in their series to try and capture that fulfillment.

The best way I can put it is that King is a lot like drinking a Coca-Cola. It tastes amazing and you begin to crave it. You're more than happy to drink it and it always feels like a treat as it soothes your gullet. However, you can't help but feel like no matter how much you drink, your thirst is always there, wanting just a little more.
