Historia
Isabelle is completely lost. When she first began her career in publishing after college, she did not expect to be twenty-five, still living at home, and one of the few Black employees at her publishing house. Overworked and underpaid, constantly torn between speaking up or stifling herself, Izzy thinks there must be more to this publishing life. So when she overhears her boss complaining about a beastly high-profile author who has failed to deliver his long-awaited manuscript, Isabelle sees an opportunity to prove her worth and finally get the recognition she deserves.

The narrator did such a good job!
Revisado: 03-12-25
I listened to the audiobook and absolutely loved it! I am obsessed with Beauty and Beast retellings and this one was done in such a fun, cute way. The narrator IMO made the story though and I had trouble putting this book down.

Historia
Logically, Sadie knows that civil engineers are supposed to build bridges. However, as a woman of STEM she also understands that variables can change, and when you are stuck for hours in a tiny New York elevator with the man who broke your heart, you earn the right to burn that brawny, blond bridge to the ground. Erik can apologize all he wants, but to quote her rebel leader - she’d just as soon kiss a Wookiee.

I didn't care for Brooke
Revisado: 07-28-24
Brooke was not smart and the way she kept flip flopping drove me crazy. The book was good but I didn't enjoy her character very much.

What in the dark twisted story...
Revisado: 07-25-24
Child abuse isn't a strong enough statement for this story. It was a good book but very dark and disturbing. Not my usual read but it was impossible to put it down. I almost didn't finish it after the first chapter but I'm glad I kept going.

Historia
Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project—a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia—Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Historia
Twenty-five years ago, Maggie Holt and her parents, Ewan and Jess, moved into Baneberry Hall, a rambling Victorian estate in the Vermont woods. Three weeks later they fled in the dead of night, an ordeal Ewan later recounted in a nonfiction book called House of Horrors. His horror memoir of ghostly happenings and encounters with malevolent spirits became a worldwide phenomenon, rivaling The Amityville Horror in popularity — and skepticism.

I absolutely did not and I loved the story! I was worried this would be too scary for me but it wasn't bad at all, although I did have to stop listening to it a few times after dark.
