Historia
When Dr. Gwen Wright agrees to house-sit for her mother in Los Angeles, she has no idea that her surgically precise world is about to get a major plot twist. Caleb Lawson—world-famous movie star on the run from the paparazzi and his secrets—crash lands in her kitchen. Besides being a Hollywood heartthrob, Caleb is also her new stepdad's nephew. He thinks he has as much right to stay in the house as she does, but as far as Gwen's concerned, she's the landlord, and he's the squatter. Forced to share the small space, Gwen is drawn to the moody celebrity.

Very enjoyable listen!
Revisado: 02-19-25
Admittedly I have not read many romance novels, but I’m so glad I decided to give this one a shot! I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. The story was engaging, the characters were well developed and likable, and the narration was fantastic! Whether you love this genre or are new to it, definitely give this one a listen!

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

I’m a liberal and an LGBTQ ally but...
Revisado: 08-18-23
This book has some problems. I’m only about halfway through this book but I’m very turned off by how the trans character is being represented. The authors are making it seem like it’s totally normal and typical for someone to go on puberty blockers and have full on bottom surgery at a very young age, and that’s simply not the reality. All this does is add fuel to the already very hot fire burning against trans kids and parents of trans kids in this country. I am enjoying the story, but this is not a realistic representation of treatment for trans children, and I think it’s irresponsible of the authors to write this like it’s happening every day.

Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

Jarring Harmonica Between Chapters
Revisado: 07-11-23
As much as I wanted to listen to this book I had to return it after about 4 chapters as they have inserted some out-of-tune, jarring harmonica music at the end of each chapter. I like to listen to books while falling asleep, and this was just a no-go for me. Disappointing...

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Couldn’t get through it
Revisado: 11-22-22
I typically love Pulitzer Prize winners and despise mainstream favorites like Where the Crawdads Sing. However, I just couldn’t get through this. The writing itself is beautiful but the story is incredibly boring and all the rigmarole about the stone was just too much…
With about 4 hours left I went and read a summary of the ending and deleted it from my library. Not for me.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Very pedestrian
Revisado: 07-11-22
I listened to this book because my daughter said she wanted to see the movie. I had been avoiding it for quite a while and I should have continued to avoid it. I kept waiting for something to happen…as many others said, I just don’t understand the hype surrounding this book. Boring, pedestrian, predictable plot, and unbelievable.
I wouldn’t bother if I were you.

Historia
When 25-year-old Kat is dragged to a porn convention by her best friend, she's both embarrassed and nervous. The last thing she ever expects is to meet someone who makes her laugh like no other. This is a story about acceptance and friendship and a love born out of the most unexpected of places.

Too much snorting.
Revisado: 07-03-17
Not a bad story if this is the kind of thing you're looking for, but thee characters seemed to "snort" every other word, which I found irritating and distracting. I just pictured a bunch of overly attractive, overly sexed young people constantly snorting like a bunch of dorks.
