Historia
What began as an innocuous advice column for Celeste Cleary has transformed into an all-consuming obsession, and her former existence as a scientist now feels like a distant memory. As she immerses herself in the troubles of others-at times solving their dilemmas with messages from beyond the grave-an ability that has invaded her life since the hit-and-run accident that nearly killed her months before, Celeste grapples with the news that the accident may have been attempted murder.

Good story with twists - performance outstanding
Revisado: 02-01-25
The story and the performance was great. Some of the dialogues were a bit frustrating but perhaps that was by design.

Great story and performance
Revisado: 09-03-24
The actor’s voice was a great choice is all I’m going to say. Great. The story was also good, perhaps fizzled out a little bit towards the end, but the setting and the premise was excellent.

Historia
When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.

Only 20 minutes in, but already had two “What did I just listen to” moments. This book sure will keep me engaged. The narration, too, is outstanding.

Story ok, performance ok
Revisado: 04-27-24
Having just listened to the sixth book I’m starting to get the impression that the author can’t fathom the idea of a woman experiencing a wide range of emotions for any reason other than being “stubborn”. The characters are static -all of them- and act the same way they have in book 1.
Performance: well, you know. Other reviews for volume 1 detail that already.

Performance ok, story pretty decent
Revisado: 04-20-24
Overall I found the story entertaining and I enjoyed listening to the books. However, I felt that I too had a hard time getting over the narrator’s performance, although I felt that he exaggerated both men and women. I found that when I listened to the track at 115% speed I was able to bypass some of that issue, and the voices sounded more realistic.
I should mention that this repeated feedback - in my opinion - is only partially the narrator’s fault, as I thought that the characters were at times overall dumbed down and were portrayed with a difficult attitude.
All in all I think the three book bundle is worth the one credit, but I don’t think I would’ve been happy with my purchase had I bought them individually.

This heavy breathing - whispering narration was at times distracting, but I noticed that it was less noticeable when I increased the speed by 10%. Then the narrator’s voice became rather fitting to the story and overall I enjoyed the experience.

At first I thought this is going to be a bad copy of the movie US but it turned out to be a decent story. I rate this one of her better books.
Audiobook performance was good, although perhaps at times got carried away with the exasperation.
