Wonderful Light Romance
Revisado: 11-10-23
A pleasant, light story with likable characters. A fun meet-cute, hot but not overly explicit sex scenes, and a happy ending!

Victorian Romance
Revisado: 07-20-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this entry in the Chronicles of Barsetshire. A romance reminiscent of Oscar Wilde, with an interesting cast of characters, gentle humor, and not heavy-handed with the moral platitudes like some Victorian literature.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

A wonderful tale with a clever octopus twist!
Revisado: 04-21-23
A unique cast of characters is brought together in the resolution of an old mystery and a mother's grief. The "mystery" is mostly evident fairly early, and Marcellus the octopus, being the smartest fellow in the room, clearly gives us part of the solution. But how he was going to get Tova to see the answer in time kept me on the edge of my seat! By the end, I fell in love with Tova and Marcellus. I was torn over Cameron, who was by turns smart and charming versus self-pitying and self-sabotaging, but I felt like he finally found what he needed to settle down and grow up. This book evoked laughter and tears in a very human story held together by the tentacles of a wondrous octopus.
The narrators were very good as well, and I loved the voice of Marcellus! I highly recommend it!

Historia
All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention. But on this dazzling afternoon, one woman did catch the duke's eye - and she was the only female in the room who wasn't even trying.

One of Balogh's Best
Revisado: 04-07-23
The climax of the Bedwyn series gives us the story of Wulfric, the Duke of Bewcastle. Christine is a fabulous foil and complement to his character, which we have seen developed over the course of the series. Balogh has been my favorite romance author since I read her first book at the age of 13, and she writes wonderful characters and pulls at the heartstrings in every story. Slightly Dangerous is one of her best, and Wulf and Christine among my favorite of her couples. This book can stand alone, but definitely works best if the series is read in order. A wonderful, funny, sexy, and satisfying culmination of the series and for the Duke of Bewcastle!

Historia
A whimsical, moving novel about a retirement home for literary legends who spar, conjure up new stories, and almost magically change the lives of the people around them. Alfonse Carducci was a literary giant who lived his life to excess - lovers, alcohol, parties, and literary rivalries. But now he's come to the Bar Harbor Home for the Elderly to spend the remainder of his days among kindred spirits: the publishing industry's nearly gone but never forgotten greats. Only now, at the end of his life, does he comprehend the price of appeasing every desire.

Engaging Characters & A Story Within A Story
Revisado: 04-07-23
De Fino does a good job of creating an intimate world with interesting characters. There is enough "suspense" to keep the reader engaged in both the main plot and the story within the story. The plots twist in fairly predictable ways, but I was almost more intrigued by the secondary story, and a little disappointed that it ended the way it did. Overall the characters were the best part, and I was emotionally invested in most of them. A solid, medium weight read with a few tears and a relatively happy ending.

Wonderful to learn more about John Cleese in his own voice, and interesting to bear about events and people that helped shape his career and how Monty Python came together. Definitely some laugh out loud moments, and some of the best are when John himself gets tickled. Recommenced for any fan of Python!
